Petite sizing

Euphemia, on April 2, 2022 at 10:22 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 1 8

Hi all, I am wondering which size would suit me best.

I tried on a wedding dress that I loved in regular size but it was too long in the torso so I assumed getting it in the petite size would fit better and avoid more alterations but I just realized that I also want to wear heels with my dress and that might make the dress too short.

I am 5'2" and 55 inches is how long the dress is from the torso for petite, which falls above the ground with heels on (self-measurement). I haven't tried on the actual petite dress yet. (Arrives in several months)

The regular size dress is 60-61 inches long and would be a tiny bit longer than my shoes.

What should I do?

Keep the order in petite or order regular and get the top altered?

How high above the ground does it hit? Does it have a lot of tulle underneath? Taking out some of the tulle would let the skirt lay flatter and hit closer to the ground

Don't know how to help you with measurements and what you should do about that but the dress itself is lovely Smiley smile. Congratulations on finding the dress you loved Smiley smile

Ask the store to help with measurements but get any alterations done elsewhere for much less money. When you do get alterations done, make sure you wear whatever shoes you will have at the reception, if you plan to switch out of heels. If you go from heels to flats, your dress will drag and get stepped on.

If you're planning to switch to flats then you're probably fine with the petite size. I'd ask the shop for their recommendations to see which would ultimately be the best option based on the heel height and how long you'll be wearing the heels.

If I wear heels, it would hit just above the ground (this was using a tape measure though)

I would be sad taking tulle out Smiley sad Actually, I wanted to add more tulle so maybe that will make the dress shorter too. Thank you for making that point
