Petal toss as bride & groom walk back down aisle

Kimberly, on October 1, 2020 at 6:01 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 23
Hi ladies. I’m hoping to get some input on the best way to handle our petal toss. Our wedding is a small destination wedding in Gatlinburg. Venue is small and our guest list will max out at 38 with an expected 35-37 in attendance. So small.
Ceremony will be outside on a deck that overlooks the mountains and reception just inside from the deck.
We only have the venue for 3 hours and there isn’t really a place to do like the true bride and groom exit so we are going to do something similar when he and I walk back down the aisle. I will most likely do a petal cone for people to hold before throwing them (unless someone has better suggestions!). My main issue is I can’t decide the best way to get these to my guests. Do I put them in a basket on a table with a sign telling everyone to take one as they go to take their seat? Or do I place them on each seat prior to the ceremony? Or do I do something else completely different? Any suggestions are welcome! Thank you!

I had a bubble send off for my ceremony exit and so what I did was have a table at the entrance where they can grab one

I've been debating something similar, but for the cards for our guest book and the ribbon wands for our "send off" which is really just exiting the ceremony for pictures then coming back for the reception.

I think I'm leaning toward putting everything at the guest's seats. My wedding isn't quite as small as yours, but we will have fewer than 60 at our event, so still pretty small (that includes vendors!). I feel better trying to minimize having people gathered closely together, even if it's only for a second to grab something. Just my 2 cents Smiley winking I'm not as precautions or concerned as most people, but I do understand why so many people are so fearful, so it's more of a respect for their comfort.

Hmmm just think of the clean up afterwards. I think it would be nice to put on the seats unless you have a place for check in or someone seating them. Maybe also leave a note with the purpose of the petals.

The petals won’t have to be cleaned up. Well the venue will sweep them off the deck but they are real petals so biodegradable. And there will be a trash can inside for the empty cones.
We aren’t having anyone checking in or seating. We will have a guest “book” at the entrance with a small sign saying to sign our vinyl record but that area is small. Whatever we do will have to be out on the deck. The set up is that they arrive and will walk through the fireplace room where the reception will be out to the deck.

That’s what I was thinking at first. Have a table or something with them on it on a basket of some sort and they can grab one as they go to their seat. But will they be chatting and not pay attention? But then I saw some on Pinterest where they were on the chairs.
I like the on the chairs idea a little better but what kind of container do I use that they won’t spill out in the chairs? Will they be ok in the cones?
    So. Many. Questions. Sigh.

Then I would suggest have a bag of petals with a note of what they are for (I would think they were a wedding gift because I have never done a send of after the ceremony) so they do not get confused.

I’m leaning more towards the chairs too but I’m not sure what type of container to use. I’m worried the cones with not contain the petals and they will spill out. Am I overthinking it?

We did this at our wedding! We had them all set up in a nice container at the entrance to the ceremony with a sign asking people to please take one to toss as we exited the ceremony. Not everyone took one, but most people did.

Oh yeah I meant to say we will either have a sign (if on a table to grab) or a note tied to them (if on the chairs) with a saying of what to do with them. 😁

I feel like if they’re in the cones they might spill out but it might not spill out that much anyway.Another thing I’ve seen people do if you’re worried about spillage is put it in little tiny Ziploc bags or paper bags that can close and there’s a sticker on top of it that way it wouldn’t spill out. Here’s an example:

How many guests did you have? I’m glad I’m not the only one that’s doing this! How did it go at your wedding? Did it turn out how you expected?

Also, did you have them in cones or bags for each guest?

We had 41 guests show up. I honestly was so wrapped up in the moment that I had forgotten all about it and was a bit shocked when it basically started raining rose petals, but it was so much fun and I think the pictures will be great! We just used little paper treat bags from michaels.

Have you thought about using that press & seal wrap? that stuff is the bomb! it's not flimsy and frustrating like old school saran wrap Smiley winking guests can peel it off when it's time and throw it away!

I’m not quite sure what you mean. Or how you mean. I know the stuff you are talking about but not sure how I would use it to hold the petals.

You said you wanted to put them in one of those cones, so do that, then use the press and seal on the open end.

Petal toss as bride & groom walk back down aisle 1

If you are worried about the petals falling out, what about putting the flowers in a small mesh drawstring bag in your wedding colors? I found this one and one on the Oriental Trading website by googling “small mesh drawstring bag.”
