Personalized Napkin Quantity

Lisa, on July 13, 2020 at 12:31 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 8
Good morning!

I’ve been thinking that I want to add into the budget the cost for personalized napkins for either just cocktail hour or both cocktail hour & the reception. I love that they can add a little customization and really help tie the theme together. But I’m not sure how many napkins to price out. We are inviting 100 guest and anticipating almost a 100% attendance (depending on how the next year plays out with COVID-19). My thought is for the napkins to be at the bar and handed out with all drinks (non & alcoholic).
For those of you who are doing them or have done them, how many did you order for how many guests?
Thank you!

We did not have them, but I have been to several weddings that did. For 100 guests, I would order a minimum of 200 napkins.

That being said... most of the weddings I've attended with personalized cocktail napkins, they were not used. People tend to grab their drink and ignore the napkins. Just some food for thought.

We did not do personalized napkins. It's a cute idea, but I thought it was a waste of money. Guest are literally going to throw them away after using them. If you do plan on getting them then I would do about 250 for the reception (100 for dinner, 100 for cake/desert and 50 because some will need extra). For cocktail hour, it really depends on the number of drinks people will get, so if you think everyone will get 2-3 drinks during the night. Then you will need 200-300 napkins for cocktail hour. So about 600 napkins total.

I was at a wedding last October and I was surprised by how many people actually grabbed them with their drinks! Maybe it was the luck of the draw. I was thinking 300 and if they run out then so be it. IDK just throwing the idea around.

I was thinking it's a waste of money but I also think it's cute. If we can squeeze it in, we might. Thanks for your help!

I also was thinking about doing this but I haven’t decided yet because I’m thinking if it’ll be a waste of money. It’s still on my list but at the bottom lol. I have 150 guests so I plan to get 300 (2 per guest). I’d rather we run out than have a bunch left over so I don’t want to get too many.

This is sort of what I was thinking... I'd rather run out than have extras!

Everything I've read says order 5x the number of guests you're having. They will be used with cake and at the bar. You can always save a few for your scrapbook and use up the rest at home.

I would order 5 per person attending. If they're given out every time someone gets a drink from the bar, some people will use more than 5 with how much people drink (at least in my family, lol). This will definitely give you enough. Plus, you can use extras at your house later on! Or pack them up to use at your 1-year anniversary!
