Personalized Cups!

Maddison, on August 21, 2020 at 9:46 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 5
Needing advice on how to use our cups. With our original venue we were doing kegs so we bought personalized cups for everyone as our favor. We’ve since had to change venues and the new venue only allows cans. We can put a stack of cups by the water dispenser for people to grab and they said they could use them for mixed drinks. Any other ideas on how and where to use them?

On a side note. The new venue said they would put a small water dispenser out but they wouldn’t be refilling it because they had bottles of water they will sell for $1. I think it is ridiculous to make people pay for water. Most people coming to our wedding will be fine with sharing a dispenser. If they’re not then they can get a bottle - I still don’t think they should have to pay for it. We’re also not allowed to bring in bottles for free.

I would stack the cups by the bar. I have been to weddings where beer was served in bottles/cans and the couple still put their cups on the bar. Guests took them with no issue.

I don't understand, because of the new venue you can't use the cups you purchased? Honestly I wouldn't use a wedding favor like that at the wedding. I'd want to go home and wash it really good before using it. Maybe that's just me. I got a wine glass at a wedding and never used it at wedding only at home. Why don't you pre-purchase from the venue 100 bottles of water, that way you're not making the guests buy it. and once it's gone it's gone. But I wouldn't have my guests purchase bottled water.

I like Margaret’s idea to pre-purchase x amount of water based on your guest count. As a guest I’d be pretty annoyed at having to buy my own water.

Guests should not be opening their wallets at the reception for water or otherwise. What nonalcoholic options do they have once the free water runs out?

I'm guessing that the personalized cups are in a bulk plastic sleeve wrapping like you would buy at Costco? Most people won't consider that a favor, which it is ok to skip.
