Has anyone exchanged their personal written vows in private following the ceremony or on their honeymoon? We are both shy about these things so don’t want to do it in front of our guests. We will do the traditional vow exchange at our ceremony and then find a beautiful private spot to exchange personal vows. I think it would be very intimate and we would have some photos taken during this and Thinking of getting a casual white dress for this. Just wondering what people think about this idea or if anyone did it on their honeymoon?

We considered doing the same thing! Our plan was to do traditional vows at the ceremony, then read our personal vows in private during cocktail hour. We ultimately decided to write our own vows together, vows that consist of things that are important to us as a couple; loyalty, trust, respect, etc. Our officiant will break them down into the traditional "repeat" after me format. We'll also write each other letters to read while getting ready that will talk about our emotions more intimately. I think it would be really nice to do them on your honeymoon!

We plan on doing a first look and reading our vows privately to each other there! I am uncomfortable in crowds and know that is chicken out on some things want to say if I had to do it in front of 150 people. We’ll cite the traditional vows during the actual ceremony.

We are doing the personal vows in front of friends and family but if there's some things I'm uncomfortable saying I will say those during our first look...

My FH is not totally comfortable reading his vows during the ceremony, but to me, that's the most beautiful part of a wedding. I personally can't stand when the vows aren't read to one another during the ceremony aloud. I'd love to profess our love for one another in front of our family and close friends (only 40 guests) He'd rather do a first look and read them then. But I'm against the first look... still trying to decide and compromise!
