Personal Attendant?!

FarmersWife, on September 7, 2012 at 11:15 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 13

What are you guys having your personal attendant do? Or are you not having one? Im just lost at what there supposed to do! Are they supposed to carry the back of your dress & bustle it? Or does the MOH do that?

I know my personal attendant is helping me put my dress on.. but thats it.

I was MOH for my cousin and she also had a personal attendant that the venue provided...she would help me bustle her dress and my cousin changed into a 2nd dress she helped me change her. she also made sure my cosuin had anything she needed during the night like food or drinks and would help hold her dress in the bathroom. pretty much anything my cousin needed the attendant was willing to do

Personal Attendant, a.k.a. Slave for a Day.

I've done it twice for small weddings. I was the first one at the church and the last one to leave. I put up the wrapping paper over the nursery windows (it doubles as the bride's room for weddings) I helped the bride get into her dress, found food, water, extra lip gloss, basically whatever she needed until she left. Delvering messages to the groom, the MoB, DoC......gerneral runner....

The maid/matron of honor traditionally does the fixing of the dress, helps you get in and out, assists you throughout the wedding. I have one but all I've asked of her really was to show up and witness and dress up. Beyond that, I don't expect very much from my girls.

I personally will not have one, but I think they are a great idea if its a big wedding and lots of things/errands to run and do.

I didn't have one and didn't have any bridesmaids. My cousins were in the house with me getting ready and my mom was there. I, honestly, wanted the least amount of people around possible. I wanted that calm/serene environment to get ready and chill out before the storm of the wedding.

The only time I had to send people out was to get our brothers, MIL, and my dad right before the ceremony so we could all walk down.

My Amazing FMIL wrote out a very detailed list of the things she would like my sisters/Personal Attendants to help with. If it will help, I can send it to you?

Although i should point out, The list looks quite large, but its really not. FMIL is just very detail oriented.

LOL AMY! Thats what I said.. I wasnt going to have one because I said well.... If I need anything Im sure the girls can grab it? Not that I really plan on needing much, that I cant get myself... But I asked my Aunt to be personal attendant (she is going to help put my dress on) my mom is no longer with us & Ik she would want her sister to help with my dress.. Just looking for other things I might have my aunt do.

My wedding planner helped with my bustle. My MOH helped to straighten my dress during the ceremony.

Is this personal attendant a person you hired to help you or someone you wanted to include in the wedding but didn't want to make them a bridesmaid?

Do not ask your friends to work at your wedding. They are honored guests. If you need help, hire it.
