Period Woes

Happilee, on January 5, 2020 at 5:57 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 10
Guess who has their period today. And it's the first weekend of the month. Guess what else is the first weekend of the next three months. Bridal shower, bachelorette, and wedding. Oh yeah and I'm always regular. Like 29 days exactly regular.

So...you knew it was coming when you planned those events? I understand the inconvenience, but I'm sure you'll find a way to work around it. Is birth control an option?

So I actually got my period literally during my bridal shower. Like while I was opening gifts I felt it start 🙄😫 and I get REALLY bad cramps. But honestly, after taking a painkiller, it really didn’t bother me all that much. I think the adrenaline kinda numbed the pain?

I was super grateful that I didn’t end up having it at my wedding (because it was close... I ended up getting it 6 days before my wedding, but I knew stress sometimes has delayed it for me so I was very nervous) but honestly after having it at my shower I knew I’d be able to make the best of it if I got it on my wedding day. I also wished I hadn’t spent so much time stressing about the “what if” if I get it on my wedding day.
Honestly like you could wake up on your wedding day sick too or feeling crappy for another reason so... there’s only so much you can control. Be as prepared as you can be... bring pain killers, lots of tampons and pads... and you’ll be fine, I promise!

I really wasn't thinking about it when I gave my Mom and sister dates. Not was it on my mind when we chose a date at our venue that only had a few weekends left. I wish BC was an option but medically it's not a good choice for me. I kinda have to figure it out now, but you're right I'll think of something!

Oh nooo 🙈 I'm so nervous about this too.
I suggest lots of herbal tea with some honey and no cold water. My future MIL always sends me these lists talking about how to be healthy and they suggest this for cramps and bloating. Works for me!

Oh no! Yeah that's not something we think about when choosing a date for an event. Mine started yesterday, so that means I'll have it again on our wedding day and start of our honeymoon. It will be okay and it will all work out.

I am so worried about this too - I know it will be okay but when I get mine, it causes horrendous back pain and total misery including migraines!! I obviously don't want to be miserable that day and I know I won't be because I'm getting married, but I also worry about bleeding through my dress! Especially if it's day 1-2 when it's extra heavy Smiley sad

Oof girl, I feel you. The pain and bloating scares me because it's harder to manage. I'm going to wear my cup and a pair of thinx undies so the bleeding I can hopefully combat

Girl, the idea of the period panties is BRILLIANT. Is it crazy to try a pad too? I just don't trust the things haha, and I don't do tampons. UGH I hope I miss it even by a day or a few hours!

I always wear a pad along with period panties. Haven’t bled through anything (yet at least, lol) with both of those, and I’ve been doing that every month for a few years!
