Period due around wedding! One week to go! Parsley tea? Plan B? Suggestions?

Rhonda, on October 27, 2013 at 11:18 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 9

Hi everyone,

So I'm getting married next Saturday! Super excited but super nervous too. And to add to the nerves, my period is due either the day of the wedding or the day after.

I'm not on birth control pills and I've been researching different options. I've heard to use Plan B to bring on your period (though it doesn't always work and can also backfire) as well as the parsley tea method.

Some people say the parsley tea method is an old wives tale but others say it has worked for them. I've decided to try it -- just made my first cup and drank it down. Does anyone have other suggestions? I leave for my honeymoon two days after the wedding so I don't want to have my period then either.

Has anyone had success with the parsley tea method or using Plan B to bring on a period a week early?

Thanks!

Don't screw with your body. There's nothing you can do a week out that's safe. Your body is already preparing for it. Maybe it won't start until after the wedding.

I'm in your same boat! I have 5 months til my wedding but as of now I should start on my wedding day.

My period is a follower not a leader so every time I start spending more time around different ladies (changing jobs) my period completely changes. Also if I over stress or work out a lot it will switch up on me so there is no telling what is going to happen in the next 5 months but if you find anything that works please let us know!!

Good luck and either way I'm sure you are going to have an amazing wedding and just make the best out of the other situation Smiley smile

The beauty of being a woman! I say embrace it. Find other things to do on your, "eh em" wedding night or on your honeymoon. Your honey will love that you were creative and this will set the stage for an awesome marriage (i.e. creativity and staying positive even when it seems gloomy). I know it sounds crappy but there really isn't anything you can do about it at this point. Just have fun and remember, the wedding is one night.

Please let it be. It's unfortunate timing, but plan b could make you feel horribly ill. Most people who I know who've taken it got very sick (symptoms of pregnancy or a very bad period). It's not worth taking unless you have to.

Honestly if you really really want to avoid it

The only thing I would consider doing is going on the pill for a very short period of time (people do it a lot)

First of all, the world will not end, and your wedding will not be ruined, if you have your period on your wedding day. It's really too late at this point to do anything about it, so just have a plan in place in case it happens, and focus on getting married.

Second of all, do NOT use Plan B to delay your period. Plan B is a very high dose of hormones to prevent pregnancy, and it will very likely make you sick. It took me several tries to find a birth control pill that didn't make me sick, and that was NORMAL birth control with NORMAL amounts of hormones.

Isn't black cohosh herb a way to bring it on?

that's what I've heard, I'd consult a herbalist to see if they have suggestions.

Personally I don't believe there are any special activities/pills you can take to start or stop your period. It's a part of life and unfortunately if it starts you will have to endure.
