People that haven’t rsvp yet

Tina , on July 18, 2019 at 11:21 AM Posted in Planning 0 21
Hello everyone!

my wedding is coming up in August and we haven’t gotten enough of the RSVP cards back. Does anyone know how I should reach out, and tell the people when the deadline is? If they are coming or not. My deadline is July 29. Thank you! ❤️

You shouldn’t reach out to people before the deadline, unless you didn’t include the deadline on the invitation.

Lots of people are procrastinators. We recieved a few more after the deadline had passed. Wait until the deadline then follow up.

I’d wait to contact anyone. My deadline is the 20th (the Saturday) and I’ve gotten a bunch of rsvps this week so I think people just procrastinate.

Your deadline should have been on your RSVP card. Don’t reach out until the deadline has passed, preferably a few days after to allow time for stragglers. Then reach out and say “hi there! Our RSVP deadline was July 29th and we noticed we haven’t received yours yet. Our final headcount is due to the caterer soon. If we don’t hear from you by x day, we will assume you’re unable to attend.”

Yeah that’s what I’m saying. The venues deadline is August 5. So if it’s passed that.. people can’t come. They need that headcount 😩

So after the 29th start contacting people and say “I need to know by the 3rd or I’ll have to mark you as a no”

I'd say call people after your deadline. People do procrastinate.

Aww you should send a friendly text to your guests, call or email. It’s ok to reach out.
Our wedding is August 10th. Woohoo our rsvp deadline was July 15th we still get Rsvp back in the mail almost everyday.
If you don’t hear back soon I would reach out to your guest..
best of luck I hope you get all your rsvp cards back ❤️😀

If you didnt put a deadline on the RSVP, then technically people dont know when the deadline is.
So technically you could change your deadline to July 20th and start contacting people then. 🤷‍♀️

Wait until after the deadline. Several people RSVPd to us the day before or the day of the deadline. I’d give it till July 31 (give them one extra day) and then text or everyone who hasn’t responded and say you need a firm answer by 8/3. Make it clear that if they can’t give it to you by then, you’re sorry but you’ll have to count them as a no.

They know when the deadline is if you printed it on your cards. Leave them be until then. A couple days after that date has passed, reach our and let them know that you havent received their rsvp and you need an answer. Many people see the deadline as the date they need to drop it in the mail by, so expect a few to come in right after. With you RSVP date on a Monday and the numbers due to the venue the following Monday, I’d probably suggest to start reaching out on a Thursday (even better after you’ve checked your mail!). Our RSVP date was on a Wednesday and about 10 cards arrived the weekend after, and a couple people reached out via text/email— so I was glad I gave a couple extra days for stragglers ! Way less work for me with so many fewer people I needed to follow up with!

That's why people set the RSVP deadline a week before the venue deadline, it gives people time to follow up. Like others have said, you have to reach out and say "hey I havent received an RSVP from you, I absolutely need an answer by X date or I'll have to mark you as not attending."

Like PP wait till after your deadline. After the deadline reach out VIA phone. People look at texts and then forget always follow up with phone call or face to face if you see them regularly enough.

People are so bad at rsvp'ing now a days. Definitely ask people for their RSVP response when it's after the deadline. For me I noticed a lot of people RSVPd when it was right on the deadline

I had a website that kept track of all that for me. Whoever hasn't responded you can shoot them a email or a text to remind them that the deadline is coming.

I can’t do that because the venue needs a head count before that.

I put on my rsvp back by Aug first for our Aug 30th wedding ...i would just call and touch base with everyone who hasnt just say how important it is you get it back by that date bc vendors need to know how many attending and so you can get it paid off when you have your totals . Just tell them not to be mean but if you dont rsvp by this date i will have to mark you as a no and then if you show up after not replying we wont have enough food etc and you want to make sure that doesn't happen

I guess I'm confused. You told your guests to RSVP by July 29th and the venue needs final numbers by the 5th....that's a week between deadlines to follow up with people. Am I right?
