People Not Receiving Their Invite????

Christina , on May 29, 2019 at 9:25 PM Posted in Planning 0 6
My FMIL told my mom that a family is saying they never got an invite but my mom knows for sure she sent one and FMIL confirmed that the address my mom had was correct. Anyone else experiencing this??? Are they getting lost in the mail? Or is it possible that people are not recognizing my moms name and maybe threw it away? We literally don’t have anymore invites to send so 🤷🏼‍♀️ Not sure what to do even... UGH

This is rough. We had an invite sent back to us and a save the date get lost (but eventually get to the recipient). You usually want to order a few extra in the event that something like this happens. Since you don't have any, maybe you can explain that the post office seems to have lost their invitation and at least email a picture of the invite?

When we sent out STD's, my parents took almost 2 months to get there. The kicker? We dropped them all at the post office A MILE FROM THEIR HOUSE! It was more convenient than hours which is 15 minutes in the opposite direction of everything we do. I also got one back about 2 months after the fact for a "street address does not exist". Turns out, it does. I confirmed the address twice and when I hand delivered it he confirmed it was correct and that the wished the IRS would think the same thing. Sending mail just sucks! Like any job, there are people who aren't good, people who don't care, and people who are lazy at USPS.

I would say maybe reach out to those people and apologize saying it must have gotten lost. Could you print up a mock up invite on thicker paper and resend that, I know you don't have any more invites to send but I would think they would appreciate getting something, even if it isn't quite what it should have been.

We had a few not get delivered, a few sent back, and one took a month to get there. Unfortunately that happens sometimes with the post office. We ordered 10 extra just in case of this type of event. I would either try to order a few extra invitations, or call the family personally, apologize for the mix up, and invite them verbally.

We did send a picture of the invite and apologized. I truly think this family threw it away because they didn’t know who is was from. Everyone else is getting their invites. Thanks for the advice!

Thanks for the advice! We ended up sending a picture of the invite to the person and they’ll be coming. It happened with the save the dates too. So frustrating!

I experienced this! it's a common thing that happens. when you think about the amount of mail that goes through a postal office every day, it probably is a lot and they probably lose some. if they do not live too far, you could even just personally go and drop it off, my future father in law did that.
