My wedding is in 11 days. We have close to 250 people coming and less than a quarter of our guests have bought us gifts. Is this normal?? My fiancé has been encouraging me to let it go and be grateful for what we have received and he's totally right but honestly it kind of hurts! I just didn't...

I just didn't expect this I guess and I wanted to know if this has happened to anyone else or if I'm just focusing on something that doesn't matter (or both)

"The reason for a wedding is to get gifts" what an awful sentiment. The wedding should be a celebration of your marriage, both ceremony and reception.

This depends on your circle of friends. Most people I know received mostly physical gifts. We received 2 cards with money, over 200 gifts, about 70 of them from friends or family not invited to the wedding.

You’re correct, anything that you’re given is a gift, whether it’s cash or a an actual item. Most people on here refer to a “gift” as a physical item and cash as just that, cash. It’s important to know what kind of “gift” someone is talking about on a wedding etiquette forum because etiquette is different for different types of “gifts.” If youre referring to an item off of your registry, we need to know that because etiquette wise, those should be delivered to you before or after the wedding. The OP here obviously wouldn’t know if someone had already gotten her a card with cash in it since that’s not going to appear on her registry.
