Peeing with a trumpet/mermaid dress?

Olivia, on March 21, 2019 at 10:53 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 1 14

Today someone asked me how I planned on peeing during our reception and I cant believe I haven't thought about it! My dress is a Vera Wang trumpet style dress and it'll be impossible to pull it up to pee but I also don't want to take it off because it just seems like it'll take a long time! Anyone have any ideas?

I’m gonna follow this. My girls and I were just talking about this the other day. And I realized after my dress is altered it may be too tight to pull up too. Our original thought was to straddle the toilet so I don’t risk dropping my train in the water 😂oh my gosh, real bridal struggles lol

Following. From what I’ve read you have to take it off. If it’s not too tight you can pull it up and there’s some things like the garbage bag trick you can use for that.

Everything I've read says use the help of your bridesmaids, a she pee, or a bridal buddy. Nothing specific for mermaid gowns, other than taking off your dress. #realbridestruggles

I've been thinking about this ever since I got engaged!!! I am SOOOOOOOO glad I didn't buy a mermaid dress!

Not that it's going to be a lot easier with the dress I did buy. But a little. I guess I'm grateful that my daughter and my sister are in my BP. Those are about the only two people on earth that I could feel comfortable with help in the bathroom.

Note to self: go pee right before you put on your dress!

I would think this would make things worse. Now your done and holding a urination contraption... that you peed into. Probably still wet. What do you do? Hand it to one of your ladies? Gross. Nope. I dont care how much I love you-I'm not holding that. So instead you're holding this wet thingy majig your gunna try to cover your bits and get your dress back down? Lastly where do you store it? I mean your going have to go again. Nah. I think I rather have a girl watch the door so I can strip and go in peace, and zip me in when I'm done.

I think a bridal buddy might work but I’m not sure since you have a mermaid!

tbh this is one of the reasons I picked an a-line, because I know I’m gonna have to pee at least once and probably need to go poo too 😂

This issue is exactly the reason why I'm considering getting a reception dress. I didn't envision myself in a fitted dress until I tried on "the one". I now have the same concerns you do, lol.

I was so worried about this (also had a trumpet gown), and figured I'd just have to take my dress off to pee - but I didn't end up needing to pee until after the reception ended! I think the adrenaline kept me from needing to pee! At the end of the night I ended up just shimming the dress up over my hips to pee.

I actually considered this when purchasing my dress, LOL. I really wanted a mermaid/trumpet dress, so that's what I bought, but I've thought about going to the bathroom in it. There's no way to lift it up or adjust it to go...the bottom/train is a LOT of material and I cannot imagine trying to lift it up to pee lol. I figured I would just take the dress off. I bought a dress that zips in the back (but it's disguised and looks like buttons). I was stuck between a corset and zip back, and I went with the zip to make things much easier!

Yes the "she wee" is perfect if you want to stand, but you have a potential of getting in you. As someone who has worn a lot of that style of dress, pulling it up is not only the "safest" but the best for the dress to keep you perfectly aligned. It is a lot easier to fix a lining when you are sweaty than trying to zip or tie you back in.

I am following this too. My dress is the same style and I never even thought about this!
