Peanut Bar

Alexis, on October 26, 2020 at 11:49 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 9
My fiancé and I really loved the idea of having a peanut bar at our wedding. For any of you who have had peanuts at your wedding, how did you prevent your guests from throwing all the shells on the ground? You would think it would be common courtesy not to throw shells on the ground, however, I am afraid that it will become a big ole miss. Suggestions highly appreciated! 😊

This sounds like a huge allergy risk.

That said, you can provide multiple trash cans.

This seems like a big allergy no no. I would consider a popcorn bar instead. That would solve both problems—no allergy risk and no shells to throw on the ground

I agree with PPs that there are tons of other options that aren't so high risk, but if this what you're set on, I would A.) put a disclaimer on your invites so that anyone with allergies can decline and B.) place a small trash can at each table.

Yeah, this is the most common severe allergy. I'd just think of a new idea. Unrelated, I would not find this appealing as a guest. I think PP had a great suggestion with popcorn.

Agree with a PP who suggested a popcorn bar. An ice cream bar is also a good idea but the possibility of someone having an allergic reaction at your wedding is just too high

My first thought as PP have said is the allergy risk. I’m 30 years old and just developed unknown food allergies (still working on figuring that out). I’d be so nervous with peanuts as they are a huge risk to others. I like the popcorn bar.

I think that is a definite know your crowd type of situation or like a PP mentioned maybe put it on the invite and clear it with the venue and all of your vendors. We had thought about doing boiled peanuts at our wedding during (they are my fiancés favorite and her family loves them) but the clean up logistics knocked that idea out for us.

I mean i want to think that it being a wedding venue people would know not to throw trash on the floors. the other option is having peanuts that are already shelled?

I would say no it sounds like a huge allergey risk. example I can eat peanut butter til the cows come home but if I were to touch the peanut oil I can break out into hives, i would suggest skipping this but if you have to have a peanut bar I suggest trashcans or tin buckets like they do at texas roadhouse
