Hey Ladies!

Who else suffers from PCOS? I have been trying to lose weight since I got engaged in November and feel like I've only gained. I've tried WW, Keto, Xyngular (diet pills), low and no carb diets AND working out. I feel like nothing is working and now I don't fit in my dress!! Luckily, I have until July 24th, 2021 to fit back in my dress, but I am defintely worried!

Recommendations? TIA

Thank you!! My picture is actually from about 3 years ago because we haven’t gotten a chance to get engagement pictures 😂
I looked in to the Macro counting type diet, but I’m horrible with tracking my food since I can’t use my phone at work 😭

I also have PCOS and gained about 50 lb in college (partly birth control, partly bad choices), so I've been working to lose it for a while. Weight Watchers has actually worked REALLY well for me. I lost about 25 lb the first time I did it, joined with kickboxing twice a week and training for a 5k. I tried Noom for a while, but now I went back to WW because it worked so much better for me. I know you said you tried it already, but if you are willing to give something a second chance I would say it's worth it. I find meals/recipes that work and I prep on the weekends so my week is mostly planned out. It also really helps me to go to a gym where I take classes instead of just a traditional gym where no-one is pushing me, and deciding to run a 5k was a great decision because it helped me set a goal to work towards.

I’ve tried Noom and this is my second time on WW. 😔 I feel like the plan they gave me just isn’t working, but I’m not sure how to change it either. My local gym doesn’t really offer group classes (literally live in BFE) we don’t have a golds gym or Planet fitness within an hour and a half of me, and the only classes my local gym offers is Mommy and me classes. I need someone to push me while I work out too.

I wouldn’t go to a diet that cuts out food groups - those tend to have weight loss in the short term but not long term. Have you tried working with a dietitian? I would suggest getting in lots of protein (look up these foods - some foods have a lot more fat than protein I learned), and foods that are whole. Like brown rice, fruits, veggies. Not things that are processed. Exercise is also definitely recommended. If it’s overwhelming to exercise I would begin with 30 mins of walking each day and build from there - start with a do-able goal like resistance or a YouTube pilates workout (they’re $Free.99 !) twice a week. It takes time to see changes so be patient with yourself, and don’t be discouraged if you don’t see the changes you want to see in just 3 weeks. Good luck!

I’m waiting for my insurance to kick back in, but then I’m really wanting to talk to a dietician. I’ve been working out 30 minutes every other day so far. That’s what works best for my schedule and with the rain.

I have PCOS as well and am currently on a weight loss journey. My biggest thing is tracking calories! I thought I wasn't eating that many, but wow is it an eye opener! Combined with just better choices and 30 minutes of cardio or weight lifting every other day, I've lost 15 lbs in 2 months. Slower progress than I wanted, but ehh perks of PCOS haha

The “perks” of PCOS are definitely hard sometimes. Do you have a certain calorie counter you use?

I feel like I read my own thoughts... I got engaged in February and I feel the same way. I know my fiancee loves me as I am, and honestly my feeling about losing weight have nothing to do with him. Yes it is OUR wedding day. But when I walk down the aisle, with eyes on me, I want to be feeling my best. I don't want to be self conscious. At least not more so than I expect a bride to be. I don't want to just "look better" I want to feel better. I let go of my idea how many pounds I should drop, or a goal dress size, and have started seeing success. It can be so self defeating to focus on a number when my weight fluctuates for other reasons. One thing I found helpful the book "Woman Code" by Alisa Vetti. Understanding your hormones a bit more, and focusing on feeling better, not a number may help you too!

My exact thoughts. It’s not even about the dress size anymore. I feel horrible and I don’t want to. I’ll have to look in to that book!

Did the doctor put you in metformin? Metformin treats PCOS.

My doctor refuses to diagnose me with it. He was recently let go, so I’m looking for a new one.

    Me me!!

I have PCOS and I am also dieting for my wedding. Keto works awesome if you also cut out dairy! (It is difficult because many people doing keto consume a lot of cheese as it is low in carbs.) If you want to take it a step further- try intermittent fasting on top of it by waiting until late afternoon to eat your first meal (making sure not to binge eat but rather eating small portions.) I lost 10 pounds in 3 weeks doing this back in January so I am back on it. I track everything through a carb counter app. I have coffee/tea and water in the morning and eat half of my lunch around 12:30 which is normally a small salad. Then I eat the rest around 1500. Then I eat again around 1800 which is normally chicken or a turkey burger and a vegetable.

Dairy seems to be very awful for many PCOS women.. I know that since I cut out dairy my bloating has gone down significantly and my acne practically disappeared.. (Dairy has also been known to increase insulin resistance in many cases.) I would ask your doctor about this and see what they recommend.

My FH and I made a pact to walk after work every day together. We only do 2.85 miles every day and its takes us about an hour. We have loved every second of it! It gives us time to talk and we have generally felt healthier. We also meal prep every sunday so we don't have to worry about it for the week. This has been the biggest stress reliever and I don't have to worry about being tempted to eat out since I have everything already prepared.

Sorry, this was a lot but just thought I would share my experiences!Smiley smile I hope you find something that works for you that you love!

I found a good at home workout plan. https://www.blogilates.com/calendar/
You just lookup her videos on youtube. I don't have a gym so I do 2-3 videos of hers per day based on her calendar and walk when i can.

Intermittent Fasting helped me get a jumpstart on my weight loss. You eat between 8 hours in a day. It was hard the first week to adjust to but was easy to follow after that. And you just stick to meeting certain macros per day. I ate about **** calories per day. Eat mostly protein and vegetables. Carbs were allowed but at a lower amount per day. I used the myfitnesspal app to track my food. I have PCOS as well and have done every diet in the book. This was one of the more successful ones that I did. It's called the FASTer Way to Fat Loss (https://www.fasterwaytofatloss.com/). It also has workout routines to stick to as well.

Hey girl! I have PCOS and was super successful with losing weight in my early 20s but now that I'm close to 30, it seems impossible. Recently, since around March, I've lost around 20 lbs. I've been working out every other day and just watching what I'm eating. Also I'm drinking way more water, around a half gallon to a gallon a day which I feel has helped. I would definitely check with a nutritionist as well to see what their thoughts are. Like someone said earlier, at the end of the day even with PCOS it is calories in vs calories out.

If you are taking your food into work with you then only take certain things and log them all when you pack it up! That is what I do and then I make sure I don't bring any cash or anything so that the snack machines aren't even an option and that has helped greatly! I agree that speaking with your doctor is a good idea especially if you are already eating very low calorie and exercising, they might have some suggestions! I was recently diagnosed and my doctor and I sat and had a really good talk about what medicines she could give me to help along with what lifestyle changes I could make.
