Paying for hair and makeup for bridesmaids??

Jenny, on February 26, 2020 at 11:04 PM Posted in Hair and Makeup 1 19
Hey everybody! I wanted to ask what you all are planning on doing in regards to paying for either hair or makeup or both for their bridesmaids!

I have 4 bridesmaids and a MOH and I definitely want to pamper them on the big day! But costs wise I’m thinking of picking to pay one of those services as a gift to them. And maybe having them pitch in or have them pay for the cost of the other service if they so choose to do so. But then I’m worried that we wouldn’t look uniform in pictures if all the girls don’t get their makeup done professionally. My MOH thought we could do each other’s hair to save some money but idk. Thoughts??

If you’re requiring it, you pay for it. If it’s optional and they choose to do it, they are responsible for the cost. We paid for hair and makeup for our bridal party and moms, but that was just because we wanted to. I personally think that professional hair services compared to DIY hair is much more obvious than professional vs DIY makeup. It’s not like bridesmaids get closeups of their faces.

I have also thought about this, I have 6 bridesmaids including my MoH. I simply can’t afford to pay for both for everyone and I don’t even think I can afford to pay for even one for everyone. But if you have the funds to do either or both then I would say go for it. I will say if you’re only paying for one, I would personally 100% pay for the hair over the makeup and give them the option to do makeup if they wanted to pay with their own money. I agree, I think makeup is far less noticeable than hair when it comes to being professionally done.

I’m still battling with this. My girls know my situation so they aren’t going to make me feel bad about it. Besides they all do their own hair and makeup amazingly. So I’m not worried about them being beautiful the day of. Everyone is trying to stay within their means.

    Hi Jenny,
I'm paying for both, I just felt like it was the right thing to do with them paying for a costly bachelorette weekend !!!

I have seven bridesmaids, my mother, his mother, two flower girls and myself. We're paying hair and makeup for everyone. We also have an unusually large budget and an insanely high guest count. So, I won't risk any of my bridal party looking like they stepped out of a different book than the rest of us. They've all agreed, too, so at least we can all relax about it.

Well I’ll guess I’ll be that ONE! I have 4 bridesmaids and 2 MOH. They paid for their dresses, hair and makeup. 🤷🏽‍♀️ Now i have REALLY nice bags for them that day in which I bought robes, slippers, jewelry, and bath and body works with custom made bag. They’re proposal boxes were also very nice in which I spent a nice coin. And for the bachelorette I even made them a cute little bag. So the money is being spent! Just where I choose.

I couldn’t foot the bill for more than my hair & makeup, so obviously it was their choice what, if anything, they wanted done. One chose to get a half up half down look done, the other got a blow out. Both chose to do their own makeup. They looked great and I had no complaints.

I am getting professional HAMU done for myself, MOH, 1 bridesmaid, and 2 mothers. (Luckily the rest are bridesmen and don’t want HAMU 😅)

I chose an artist that does staggered package pricing, which was more affordable... I don’t know if that’s an option for you.
If I were to choose to pay for one though, I would probably ask what they wanted covered or done professionally.
Personally, I would prefer to do my makeup for a wedding & get my hair done because I’m not as good at doing my hair.

I am treating the MOH, 3 bridesmaid and Junior bridesmaid to mani/pedi the day before the wedding. Hair and Make-up is on their own.

I’m paying for my girls hair because I’m having everyone wear braided up dos and I dint think they could do it themselves. We are doing just a very plain natural makeup look so I gave the option of doing the makeup themselves or having it done.

It'll be totally fine if some have it done professionally and some don't! You won't know the difference in pictures.

I am paying for makeup for everyone, but I'm asking them to pay for their hair. My sister and niece are in the wedding and I'm going to pay for my niece's hair so my sister doesnt have to pay for two. My two nephews are also in wedding and my FH paid for their tux rentals.

I'm getting my hair and makeup done. I told my bridesmaids they may wear their hair however they choose. Even if they choose to brush it and wear it long. I told them they may do their makeup however they choose. Even if they just wanna slap on some chapstick and show up. To me, their presence is more important than their hairstyle or makeup.

I’ve only booked for myself. If someone wants professional services, they’re welcome to them, but it’s not in our budget so we’re not asking they do anything other than get a dress and show up on time.

Certainly optional, but we paid for my bridesmaids, junior bridesmaid, and flower girl's hair. Bridesmaids covered make-up cost. I included that as part of their gift.

I decided to cover it for my maids of honor and all the bridesmaids. I wanted uniformity and just for everyone to look their best. Plus, I hired one of the best hair and makeup stylists in the city where I'm getting married. All of my ladies are very excited to be pampered and look amazing for the wedding.

I have 2 Bridesmaids And A MOH. They Were Given A Choice To Get Theirs Done Professionally IF They Wanted To Pay. My MOH Will Have Her Hair And Makeup Done, 1 Bridesmaid Is Getting Only Makeup And The Only Bridesmaid Is Doing Her Own Hair And Makeup. I Have No Issue With It As Long As Their Looks Arent Crazy.
