Paying for a Groom's tux

Crystal, on March 24, 2014 at 9:00 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 7

We have 5 gm, 4 of them are wearing their military whites. The 1 that's not wearing military whites has been unable to work due to an illness and is currently living at home. FH wants us to pay for his tux, because of his financial situation and none of the other groomsmen have to rent a tux. My argument is that all my BMs had to buy their dresses. What would you do?

If you can pay for it, I think it is a nice gesture.

It's a nice gesture if you can afford it. I would.

I agree with heather and jacque. if your in a financial situation where you are able to do so, it would be awesome!

maybe your fh can somehow get all of the groomsmen to pitch in for it? kind of making it a group gift?

I think it would be a nice gesture for someone who needs the help. I know you're trying to be fair, but no one has to know that you covered it.

I think it is fine if you can afford it. Me, I paid for one of my BM dresses because she didn't have that much money and we will probably have to pay for one of the GM as well.

Just don't mention it to anyone else that you paid for them and there shouldn't be any issues.

While all of the BM had to pay for their own dresses, it seems like this groomsman is in a different situation. Unable to work, living with parents, probably not much money to spare. If you can afford it, I also don't think it would be a bad idea to cover his tux rental.

I agree with everyone else - if it's feasible, I would do it.
