Pasta & Pizza?

Kelly, on July 24, 2019 at 7:56 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 7
Hi everyone! I am toying with the idea of doing an Italian buffet for our reception. There’s a restaurant on the same block as our venue that caters. The pizza is more artisan style so I think that could make it feel elevated. We would likely have both pasta (with protein options, not just noodles!) and pizza from there and salad and some other sides to supplement. They have gluten free crust available to accommodate guests with allergies and such and we would have vegetarian options as well. I’ve seen a few posts about something like this and a lot of people veto pizza because it’s hard to keep warm. If we hired staff to be continually picking up fresh batches (or convince the restaurant to deliver!) and refill the buffet I think we could keep it hot. Our venue has warmers as well in their kitchen. We have 250 (give or take) that will be there and are struggling to find options that fit our budget. We want to host our guests well, but not break the bank!

Do you think this is a viable option? We can’t do a pizza truck because our venue is upstairs and I’d be worried they can’t keep up with the demand. We would obviously set up the buffet and display everything so it had a more formal feel. Our wedding isn’t casual, but not quite formal either. It’s going to be the middle of the summer and likely quite hot.

The last wedding I went to had pizza and pasta, and you're right, it all got cold pretty quickly. The warmers would help a ton, and I'd also consider trying to see if you could do something like chafing dish warmers for pizza trays to help a little more. I'm all about pizza regardless, so I'd say go for it!

As long as you can keep the food warm, I'd be so happy to eat pasta and pizza at a wedding Smiley smile

That sounds way better than the typical dry chicken breast and twice baked potato at most weddings Smiley smile

One of my good friends did a pizza and pasta at her wedding at it was a hit! No issues with food being cold and I was in the middle of the buffet line. They had staff there refilling and checking on things.
