Passed around cocktails during cocktail hour?

love_andmarriage, on April 27, 2017 at 12:33 PM Posted in Planning 0 10

I was thinking of asking my venue to have the option of having some of our signature cocktails pre-made right before cocktail hour so they could pass some around to whoever wants them to help alleviate the wait at the bar during cocktail hour.

I don't think this is a common thing to ask, but was wondering if anyone has ever seen this done before or was considering it themselves?

Yes I asked my venue if they can have mimosas ready to be served right after the ceremony as guest walk over to the cocktail hour and they have no problem doing that.

Great idea!!! We asked for servers to go around with red and white wine at the beginning of the cocktail hour to alleviate the initial bar rush. Great thinking Smiley smile

That's how my wedding venue does it! They'll also have the ingredients available at the bar should anyone want one after the cocktail hour.

Pre making a batch of the cocktails and ready to serve is smart thinking.

I love this idea! Our venue did this with champagne at our tasting and we thought it was really classy and it definitely helped the bar line!

We will always have a tray of beer and one with red and white wine to pass as the guest head into cocktail hour. Same thing if there is a sig drink. We pass those throughout the whole cocktail hour. Sometimes the bar will be open before the ceremony, (not often at all) and guest can get a drink. But, also think about guests with glasses in their hand during their ceremony.

Passing the trays takes pressure off the bartenders and the guests are happy to get a drink without a wait.

I've bartenders weddings where this was done and it worked out amazing. You'll have to check with your venue but as long as bartenders can still check ID it should be fine and possible.
