Parking situation for backyard wedding

Kay, on January 3, 2013 at 10:22 AM Posted in Planning 0 11

Our wedding is in my inlaws to be backyard. They live in a subdivision and I'm not sure what to do about guest parking...any ideas?

^^ agree. You don't want people getting fined or towed the day of.

Why is the parking scene from Father of the Bride coming to mind?

Is there a public lot from which people could be shuttled?

How many guests? do they have a front yard to park in? Otherwise contact the neighbors and get permission to line the streets or park in their yards. If this isnt an option, look for a parking lot elsewhere and hire a shuttle to go back and forth- my friend did that for theirs, the bus came evry half hour and brought people to and from the hotel/parking lot.

Haha @ We'llAlways.. I was thinking of father of the bride too!!

Also consider spreading the word to guests to carpool!

Thank you, I think we'll have to line the street or hire a shuttle. There is no parking lot close by. The guest list is just over 100.

Hire a trolley or limo, ar carriage to pick up guests from a public parking area every 15 minutes. Last minute or late guests will find enough room in the neighborhood.

Some towns require special permits for overloaded parking in residential zones. I would definitely check the books before you line cars down the street. You wouldn't want your event shut down for not getting the proper paper work done.

I would suggest asking a local church if you could park cars there and shuttle people over using a van service. You may want to throw in a donation to the church, just to be respectful (and persuasive). The van/bus/transportation service would be an extra cost to you, but I think it would be worth it to know that your event won't get shut down and neighbors will not complain.
