Parents on invite?

Nicole, on July 13, 2023 at 11:54 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 3
My FH is paying for most of our wedding. I will be asking my parents just for a little and I don’t think he is asking his parents. Would you still add both parents to the invite? With the invites I have been looking at, it doesn’t include any parents. What would you do?

You have three options, do an invite with just you two, but decline the money from your parents. The other option would be accept the money and then do the wording on the invitations that they might want, and name them on the invitation. A third option is "together with their families"...

I think the "together with their families" wording is a great compromise here! It's vague but still includes your parents!!

    Here's an invitation example:

Do your parents want to be on the invite? Our parents both gifted us a large portion of money towards our wedding but we did all the work so we didn’t include them on our wedding invites. Because “together with our families” to me feels like they had a large part in planning the wedding and ours didn’t. They just gifted us money. My family offered to help a little with the DIY towards the end. If you want to mention them on the invite then you could go the together with our families route
