Parent disapproval on affidavit?

Skylar, on May 22, 2019 at 12:21 PM Posted in Family and Relationships 0 4

For those of you who have had catholic weddings. Do you have any knowledge of parent dis approvals on affidavits? Will it hinder your ability to get married? Our catholic church is requiring our parents to fill out an affidavit on each side. My fiance's parents approve but my mother does not.

I am having a Catholic Wedding, and the only thing my parents had to sign was a paper basically stating that to the best of their knowledge, I have not been married before. And it didn't even need to be my parents really, it just had to be someone who has known me basically all my life. This "afidavit" is asking your parents permission for you to get married?? that sounds very odd. Unless you are under 18 I highly doubt their opinion matters.

I’m having a Catholic blessing, and my parents didn’t have to sign anything. I needed 2x friends/family that are in state to confirm that to the best of their knowledge I wasn’t married, am not against children, and some other stuff.

We had a Catholic wedding and we didn’t have to have anyone fill out anything.

I think it's grounds for annulment, which is why they ask. We have to provide two affidavits each from family or close friends and I'm pretty sure that is on the form. It's also a question on the FOCCUS compatibility inventory. I don't think it will prohibit you from marrying. Talk to your preist.
