Paperwork for Greece

Has anyone had experience getting married in Greece? We are having the hardest time figuring things out. We are supposed to have either our marriage license or an Affidavit of Marriage to the hotel handling our paperwork 30 days before the wedding, but we keep getting sent in circles from various agencies that say we cannot get the paperwork until we are in Greece, which is completely opposite from what the hotel is saying it has done for couples before (a large, reputable company is handling this for us).

    Have you hired a planner? We have friends getting married in Greece (supposed to be this July, postponed to next July due to Covid), and they hired a planner who is taking care of all of this for them. They had no issues.

    Thanks, Megan. We do have a planner, and we are supposed to get everything to them 30 days before the wedding so that they can take care of all the Greek paperwork. Our problem is we are getting turned in circles just trying to get the Affidavit of Marriage, which we are told we can only obtain in Greece right before the wedding, which is the opposite of what I've heard from others. So confusing! The current situation is making it even more difficult to take care of. As of now, the wedding is still in September, so we need to get moving on the paperwork, but we will know whether we need to postpone to next year in mid-July.

    Oh okay. Sorry I can't be of more help. I have not heard them mention having any issues with paperwork like that. Good luck and I hope you can move forward with your September wedding!!!
