Paper Flower bouquets

Her Mr., on January 8, 2013 at 11:35 PM Posted in Planning 0 15

Ladies,

I have decided on origami paper flowers for my bridesmaids. I have made a test bouquet to see if I liked them as much as the pictures online and I do. My one and only problem is that I have no clue how to make a bouquet out of them as once the flowers are put together there is no stem....it's just the flower part so I am not sure how to make the bouquet and make it stay. I used some wire in the middle holding a pearl in it, but they didn't stay in the holder very well. ANY advice would help on this so if anyone has made them before and knows how to put it all together I would love to know how. I was just going to trial and error it but thought that I would ask here first since most of you ladies have some great advice!!!

What sort of holder are you using?

It's a flower bouquet holder right now. I was thinking about putting little wooden dowel in the middle of them and then gluing them into the holder. But if anyone else knows what to do or how to make stems I am up for trying anything. I LOVE LOVE LOVE these and want to make sure they will hold up all day/night.

Depends, the dowel might restrict movement and what you want to do... might want to attach florist wire and to make it more sturdy wrap with florist tape? Then gather in a bunch and wrap the stems in the ribbon color of your choice?

You could put some florists foam or clay inside the holder to help stabilize it. And it's very pretty, btw. Very clean and modern.

@ Aiden - the holders already have foam in it so I just have to stablize the flowers because they really have no stem.

@ Lauren - I looked at the instructions, but those ones are made with a stem, but they are super super cute too... thanks!!

I made this one to try different things on before I make all the girls their own because I wanted to make it perfect before I started on theirs. I appreciate all the advice.

Is it that the wire itself wobbles? Or they move around in the foam? Or the flowers slide around on the wire?

I know those were made with the stem but I thought it gave good instructions on how to stabilize the stem and you can/could adapt it to work with the flowers you made?

Also can you show us a pic of the back of the flowers? Might help more on how to fasten/adapt them....

I'm not nearly as crafty as you are... so I found an Etsy seller to do mine. lol

I don't know what kind of paper she used (it was pretty good quality)... but the "stem" looks like paper as well. I can't tell if there is actually anything inside of it to make it as stiff as it is. She also put a dab hot glue (that's what it looks like anyway) the flowers to the stem.

These two pictures are from the wedding...

These are the pictures the seller sent me prior to shipping them...

I don't know if it's helpful to you or not.. but hopefully it'll help with any ideas you have.

Floral tape down the wire to create a stem? Like wrap it around and then down slowly? you could also keep the wire, attached to the button (or what you used for the stamen) longer than you did on this set so the stem can be flexible?

I Know This Is but You Could Glue Popsicle Sticks To The Flower And Attach To A Styrofoam Ball To Make It Look More Filled Out
