Pampered Chef Bridal Shower

Heather, on June 9, 2015 at 11:19 AM Posted in Planning 0 22

Has anyone ever done a Pampered Chef Bridal Shower? My aunt is putting one on for me and I am kind of confused as to how it works.

Isn't that a thing where they harass you to buy crap? That sounds frustrating.

Pampered chef will demonstrate how the products work and show a wide range of items. So mostly you sit and watch, then look through the magazine and whatever the lady brought. Their products are good and it may be a fun time.

I've been to one. The bride picked the stuff she wanted the most and we were expected to buy it for her right then and there. She also received extra "points" from our purchases (for her and any for ourselves), which allowed her to pick out 2 or 3 additional items. The host did make a pretty kick ass cake, but there was nothing else in the form of food, which may have just been my experience - but the shower was over 3 hours and during lunch time, so that sucked.

Why would people want to come to a bridal shower and bring you gifts AND buy things? That sounds expensive. Unless that's not how it work.

ETA I hate pampered chef, mary kay, seduction, etc. parties where basically you make your guests feel inclined to buy something. Just no.

The PC lady will come make food, while telling you all how great the items she's using are. Then, you'll be expected to buy products. Please don't do this.

At a Pampered Chef party, instead of bringing gifts, the guests buy Pampered Chef products for the bride. They can also buy stuff for themselves. It can be pretty fun if guests enjoy cooking and gadgets.

I've been to these. We weren't expected to bring an additional gift, only to buy something from Pampered Chef for ourselves or for the bride. The bride had a wish list we could buy from, and she earned hostess credits for everything purchased, which helped her earn her wish list if all things on it were not purchased for her. I know not everyone likes those kinds of parties, and I wouldn't want to have that as my bridal shower, but I love most Pampered Chef products.

I went to a bachelorette with a home seller (not Pampered Chef) and I also used to sell Stella & Dot. I can't say exactly how your party will be organized by typically the guests will not bring gifts. At the party the rep will do some demos or whatever and then each person will privately either make an order/contribute some money for your gift. Ie, if they only want to pitch in $20 but there are say no $20 items they want to buy for you, they could just leave you $20 of credit so that you can pick your gift.

No ALL reps are pushy, the good ones aren't. That goes for any company/any store even.

Tania's was different because she herself didn't even like the product, and her friend basically took all of the hostess perks instead of giving them to Tania. Tania's was a whole other story.

Funny Tania was mentioned, because I totally thought of that as I read this thread.

I don't know how the party would work, but I would guess that she would have you pick things out ahead of time that you like, and then guests would buy them for you at the party. Either that or guests buy stuff for themselves and you get the points to buy your own stuff.

If it's the second one, I'm not a fan, because it means you will probably have to spend your own money on some of the shower gifts, which is not okay. Also, it depends on the group - are these people that would go to a Pampered Chef party anyway? I love Pampered Chef - I use their stuff all the time. But someone who doesn't like/use their products might be put off if they felt like they were required to buy stuff for themselves in order to get you points.

I think it's okay if the Pampered Chef stuff is optional - not the focus of the party. Like if your aunt has other things planned - food, games, whatever - and then is like "hey, Heather would really like these things from Pampered Chef, if anyone wants to buy her something" - just make sure it's clear on the invite, so they don't bring a separate gift. But if they guest is required to buy something for herself as well, I don't think that's fair for a shower.

And yeah, IIRC, Tania didn't even get the hostess rewards for her party and was required to buy stuff for herself. THAT is not okay, even a little bit.

My maid of honor had recently went to one and said that you just have a registry with them-you aren't required to bring a gift and buy a gift. I have to apparently create a registry and they can pick from that and buy for themselves only if they want to. I do know that I will be getting the credit. We are making it a champagne brunch so hopefully it turns out ok! I am not to worried about her being pushy as my aunt is the Pampered Chef rep. I was just curious to see if others had experienced these types of showers?

My grandma put one on for me. Guests did not bring gifts, nor were "expected" to buy anything at all. I put a gift list together if they wanted to purchase some. I had a mix of both happen. But it was a nice relaxed, casual time and a different atmosphere from a normal bridal shower.

The PC lady came with all her tools and I helped put on a cooking "show" both demonstrating products as well as I got to try out some of the ones on my list. During that show we made lots of food for the party and my grandma provided tons others. The PC lady gave away prizes for people who answered questions about me and marriage correct, and was a fun little game.

It wasn't a conventional shower by any means but was sort of fun to get to cook for my guests and not have to play traditional games. But I am a huge foodie, and while I am not super into the pampered chef, sales tatics, they do make great kitchen products. But my consultant was not pushy at all and was there to really make sure we all had a great time.

I did get to use the hostess gifts and got quite a few kitchen upgrades in the process. I had lots of people get themselves something as well. It's a popular party in my family, and lots of people in our group love their products.

My sister had one. I loved it! But Pampered Chef is the only kind of "party" of it's kind I like. I refuse to go to crappy jewelry parties or make up parties.

Oh, if your aunt is the rep, I'm sure it'll be fine Smiley smile It's not like she'll be competing for attention since she'll be there to support you! If you don't like pampered chef though, there's nothing wrong with saying no. I think their products seem pretty nice.

Eh......Not crazy about the idea of it myself. Maybe if you could just register online, but to have a shower for everyone to buy at just doesn't seem fitting of the occasion. Just sounds like TPC trying to take advantage of the wedding industry. Like most places!!
