Palm Reader Table?

Stacey, on April 13, 2017 at 1:20 AM Posted in Planning 0 8

So my wedding is on halloween and I have a friend who does palm and tarot card readings. I've thought about asking her to have a table set up for a little while at the reception as a fun activity station. What do you guys think?

Why do you want your friend to work as entertainment for your wedding?

No. the celebration of marriage and tarot card readings do not belong together.

My gut reaction is a no -- because I don't get it, and I don't think your friend should be at any table that doesn't have a number next to a centerpiece.

Plus, I saw this done once on an episode of Four Weddings. It didn't go over well.

It's something she loves doing and I never said she wouldn't enjoy my wedding. She is just as much a treasured guest as everyone else with her place at a dinner table...I'm not shoving her in a corner for the night.

I like the idea of a palm reader but I think you should find someone other then a friend. Fun idea though

You said you were thinking of "asking her to have a table set up", so it's more than reasonable for us to assume that she's not going to be rearranging silverware and plates at a guest table to do her readings. We're hardly out of line for picturing the scenario you painted. A treasured guest at a wedding acts like a guest -- and I'm sorry if the notion offends you, but anyone sitting at their own little table in order to entertain your guests will either look like a paid performer or a Halloween prop.

Besides, who wants their palm read when the bar's open and the DJ is doing his thing?

Could be fun but keep in mind that more religious people take tarot cards/fortune telling more seriously and that might cause issues.
