Paint Pouring Ceremony!

Hillary, on August 1, 2014 at 8:05 PM Posted in Planning 0 5

Hi, Everyone!

I'm getting married in 13 days and need some major help planning my paint pouring unity ceremony!

I'm including it during the reception, so it's going to have a much more informal and relaxed feel than the typical unity ceremonies.

My DJ will be announcing it and potentially reading a piece about its significance.

My fiance has a 14 year old son, who will have his own color and participate with us.

Any advice on wording or a song that I can play in the background during the ceremony??

Thank you in advance for your help!

Hillary

Never heard of it before. I would get on youtube and search paint songs.

I've done it, but it's always been during the ceremony, instead of sand or candles.

Just a bit of a twist on a typical unity ceremony...

We will start with a blank canvas and three jars of paint in different colors (fiance, myself, his son),

and we will slowly (and very carefully!) pour the paint across the canvas so that it can mix as it drips down.

I chose the idea because it is something that we can hang in our home afterward that isn't very obviously wedding related, but still is very meaningful, and it also allows us to incorporate his son, which will actually be a surprise to them both and I know will mean the world to my fiance.

Thank you for the help! (:

I love this idea so much and I have been thinking about doing it myself! Is there any reason you are doing it at the reception instead of the ceremony?

I really wanted to include it in the ceremony, but our ceremony will be on the beach, where the wind/weather tends to be a bit unpredictable.

I discussed the options with my coordinator, and she definitely agreed that it's safer to include indoors at the reception. (:
