Paint Pour Unity Question

Christa, on September 4, 2020 at 12:00 AM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 3

TLDR at the bottom:

I've been playing around with the idea of paint pouring for our unity. I'm a crafty girl. I love to paint. I know I am not the first person to do this, but if anyone has had experience doing this I am thinking about trying the Dutch pour for us, because it just looks soft and calm, and I think it's the closest to us that we could keep in memory and our house. I'm afraid to cause an extremely long ceremony because of this. I've already talked to potential venues about this, and explained the process, and so far no objections.
TLDR; I want to be different and try to paint pour for our ceremony. It's not something normally done, and definitely not the way I want to. Suggestions would be nice.

Offbeatbride.com has a script and/or article on how it's done. Go for it. Sounds fun and unique.

I also struggled to think of something that wouldn't make the ceremony drag on or be so out of place that it just didn't mesh well with the setting (like planting a sapling). I decided to go with a combination of "las arras matrimoniales" (which is a coin ritual with ties to my Hispanic roots and a lockable Unity Heart statue to hold the arras after the ceremony for us to look back on on our anniversaries and reread our vows together.

I really like this idea! Your local craft store should have some tips and tricks for you! I used to work at a family owned craft store chain and we did paint pouring classes all the time! The only thing I would recommend is getting the paint and canvas ready beforehand so that all you have to do up at the altar is pour! You'll need a canvas that is prepped for pouring with a coat or two of the prep stuff (sorry I can't remember the name, its been awhile!) And 2 or more colors! I would choose 3-one for you, one for your future spouse, and one for the two of you becoming a couple. It mixes really well with 3! Also, if you want some of those really cool cells to show up in the paint, get some silicone to add to the paint. Michaels has all this stuff, but any craft store will do! Pinterest also has a ton of "recipes" and tips!

    Good luck and have fun!
