Paint Markers or Vinyl Decals

ISaidHallYes, on March 8, 2018 at 11:43 AM Posted in Do It Yourself 1 12

What is your opinion on what looks nicer on a sign. Hand written in paint marker or a nice clean decal applied? We have a few big mirrors we are places at different areas in the venue. I do not know why I love how they look so much!

I can not decide whether to hand paint them or to use a decal. I can see pros and cons to both. Decals are not transparent and do not smudge/scratch in transportation. Handwritten may seem fancier or more personal.

Or am I totally overthinking this one?

Here is an example of what I mean! Thanks in advance!

Totally overthinking it. I wouldn't know how you did the lettering either way, nor would I stop to think about it.

Vinyl lettering so it looks completely uniform.

I'm doing vinyl lettering on the mirrors for my daughter. My handwriting isn't pretty and you can totally have them personalized any way you want.

I can't tell the difference but, I think vinyl printed will be easier to keep straight (and clean).

This would entirely depend on your handwriting!

I truly don't think it matters either way, I would say go with whichever is easier

Thanks! I agree I would never notice the difference either!

I have good handwriting but pressing print on a vinyl cutter seems so much easier!

    Thanks everyone! Decision made!

I think vinyl always looks better, but I’m hand writing a lot of mine. I have a cricut so it’d be easy for me to do vinyl lettering on all of my signs, but I have so much other DIY stuff to take care of that hand writing was fast and I don’t care at this point. Lol

I don't like my handwriting, so I did vinyl decals for all of mine. Weeding takes forever but something like this, wouldn't take too long to do with vinyl! It took me about 1.5 hours to make my ceremony sign and 10 hours to make my seating chart.

I handwrote our order of events sign! Just took my time and used a chalk marker! Btw that chalkboard was 8 bucks with a 40% off coupon at hobby lobby! It was in the teachers section.

I'm using an old picture frame so I will be printing out the words in the fonts I want them, sticking them on the back, tracing over them with my marker, taking the paper off the back and painting the back and it'll look nice! But you are over thinking it. I wouldn't know the difference and I doubt most people would and even if they could tell the difference I doubt they'd care. Smiley smile So do whatever you're most comfortable with!

Honestly, only you will be able to tell. I would personally use vinyl decals that way it will be easier to keep the print straight.
