Paging parents of toddlers! Gifts for Flower Girl and Ring Bearer

Runawaybride, on February 8, 2017 at 5:01 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 13

Is it customary to give thank you gifts to the ring bearer and flower girl, as you give your bridal party members? If so, I could use some ideas. We have two FGs and an RB. All are around the age of two. I'd love to get them a little something.

One idea I had was to make build-a-bears that are wearing little wedding outfits. Or make up goodie bags with bubbles, activity books... but they might be too young for that stuff. What do you all think? I don't have kids, so I'm at a bit of a loss about what's appropriate for a two year old.

I do plan on giving some framed photos to their parents once we get our pro photos back, because that seems like a nice gift for their parents. Maybe that's enough?

My ring bearer (my friends' son) is going to be almost 2. I'm giving him a bear and a nice pair of cuff links that he can keep as a keepsake and wear when he's older. I might do the goodie bag, but he's not staying for the reception; his grandma is taking him home after the ceremony so his parents can enjoy the reception. The nice framed photos for parents are also a good gift.

For your FG, something similar--maybe a special stuffed animal or doll and a simple but nice piece of jewelry that she can grow into and possibly wear that day with some adult supervision.

We are getting them a toy appropriate to their age, as a thank you and to keep them busy during the reception. Our FG is obsessed with American Girl so I'm getting her a blocks set from Target. My 10 year old son is walking me down the aisle, we are thinking Lego Star Wars for him.

My niece was my flower girl. I made her a build a bear, had a handkerchief embroidered with a saying about something old to carry on her wedding day, and gave her an assortment of minnie mouse gifts (her favorite character). My sister brought stuff to entertain her during the reception so I didn't get anything like that, but she ended up sleeping through most of it anyway.

Talk to their parents. They will know what they are into. At 2 my son loved anything with wheels. He's almost 4 and loves puzzles and Lego now.

My daughter is our flower girl, she gets spoiled enough she she wont be getting a gift, but if she was getting one I would say something like crayons and a coloring book (my daughter is really into that right now, she's 17 months) or books

Build a Bears are often a big hit. Another idea from a parent: please stray from anything extremely small that can get lost easily or stepped on or anything noisy that they might play with at 2 AM when they can't sleep. I think wedding Barbie (even the whole wedding Barbie set) is also a cute gift for the flower girls.

My BMs are all getting custom tumblers so I'm also getting our flower girl and ring bearer these custom sippy cups. Haven't figured out what else yet, I was probably just going to go to the store and get them each a toy (maybe fill the cups with crayons and get coloring books?)...

I have 3 FG which are my daughters, they will be 4, 3, and 2 when we get married. I have ideas such as personalized tumblers, build-a-bear, coloring books, bubbles, jewlery, nail polish. Just a few ideas. Then I have a RB who is my nephew, thinking about giving him a personalized football, or baseball because he loves sports!

Hehe...our ring bearers are wearing kilts in our wedding (like all of the groomsmen, my FH, and my dad are), so we're getting them gifts along that theme. Our oldest one (my BFF's son and my non-biological nephew) is getting a child-size sword. Our younger one (my biological nephew) is getting a set of child-size bagpipes, because there are no weapons in my sister's house.

Note: I cleared both of these with their parents before getting them. I think with toddlers, that's key.

ETA: We're still not sure what we're getting our flower girls. Our oldest ones have a clear "no Barbies" policy, and our younger one will only be 15 months.
