Paging DIYers: window pane picture frame (UPDATE with finished product!)

Kathleen , on July 30, 2017 at 2:42 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 28

Hello! I'm trying to make a picture frame out of old windows (see attached) but I cannot figure out how to affix the photos from behind the glass. I've tried spray adhesive on the corners of the photos, but it ruined the ink and didn't even stay for 10 minutes. Then I tried "invisible" tape, which was very much visible and looked like shit. The only other thing I can think of would be to use white washi tape and make it look like a border, but I really would prefer not to. Any ideas? Has anyone ever successfully done this outside of Pinterest?

Did you try rolling up the tape and sticking on the pack of the picture and then to the glass? I dont see why regular scotch tape would work? You wont see the back of the glass, unless yours you will. Im sorry i am no help. Lol

I'm trying to put the pictures behind the glass so it looks like a regular picture frame. I need to adhere the front of the photo to the back of the glass

What about using double sided tape in the back of each pic? If you want them behind the glass, you could try to use modge podge. It will dry clear but may leave a texture on the panes. Test it out first...

Glue dots might work? They are tiny dots and are pretty invisible.

Mod podge is a good idea! Do you think it would smear the ink though?

Did you try invisible photo corners? It gives it a nice touch and you can find them at Michaels or another craft store. They have some in gold, silver, kraft and clear.

LIGHT layer of mod podge on the photo. Too much, and you will see the a lot of creases and streaks through the glass. Make sure it's NOT a matte finish.

Are you placing the photos on top of wording or do you mean ink as in from the picture? If it's the latter, no it will not smear.

Maybe attach the pictures to sheets of acetate and then attach the sheets to the frame behind the wood sections.

I'm with @FutureMrsHomewood. I would adhere the pictures to a piece of clear film (like the type teachers used to use of overheads) or another piece of glass that is the same size as the window pane.

I really think the Pinterest photos are specially made photo frames or done by a pro framer.

I did it! Used Mod Podge, but it was still visible through the glass. So I decided to add the lace. I'm so happy with how it came out! Thanks for all the suggestions!
