Packing cubes?

Sour shoes, on May 21, 2017 at 6:38 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 15

My wedding is a DW and we'll be there a week. I tend to overpack and not use my luggage space wisely.

I've been reading a lot about packing cubes. Has anyone used them? I would like to know your thoughts/ideas/tips on packing for trips and your feelings on packing cubes. TIA!

I use them every time I travel. They are great. Another great tip that I have just recently learned about was to roll your clothes. You get a lot more space that way.

Thank you! I'll check Amazon and see what they have. Sounds like it's worth a shot.

I love packing cubes, they make it so much easier! I've found great ones at Marshalls and TJMaxx near the luggage section

I'm definitely going to try rolling my clothes. YouTube has some good videos.

I packed for a trip the normal fold your clothes way and when I repacked to go home I rolled my clothes and the amount of space leftover was insane. I highly recommend rolling!!

Packing cubes are my life (and I travel every week).

A). You can roll individual outfits for easy access.

B). You don't have to go hunting for things if you coordinate each cube for long distance (for instance underwear in one, shirts in one, bottoms in one, swimming costumes in one).

C). When stuff is dirty you can relegate it too the filthy cube.

D). You can pack a cube for carry on while the rest of your options are in stow away.

I love these cubes - they take up less space, and handle all options above.

@Sour Shoes - Seriously they will change your life. People always ask me how I can go abroad for two weeks with a carry-on.

    1. I pull a scarf and match all the pieces to it (this means that everything that I wear can be coordinated by simply pulling out the scarf and also means that I have a scarf for any necessary reasons - Mosques, Churches, etc).

    2. Packing cubes.

The only other amazing travel tip I have is ROLL everything. For whatever reason it all fits better if you do.

Seriously - those three tips have managed to get me through weeks abroad!

We used them for our honeymoon to Europe...ONE suitcase for FH and I to share and it wasn't huge....I typically check a big bag and carry on a rolling bag for big trips, but this wasn't logical for our trip since we were hopping place to place so much.

These things were LIFE SAVERS---I will say though, plan to iron some of your clothes when you take them out of the cubes. We also had "dirty" bags for all the stinky clothes which was great to keep everything else fresh. We used the container store ones too...they were great!

I use them and loooove them! I went to Brazil for a month and only had a carry on backpack with me that had all I needed in it, and my packing cubes were fantastic for organizing my bag as well as making room for more stuff.

I love packing cubes, but be forewarned that it is VERY easy to over-pack with them because you'll be able to fit a lot more in your suitcase. To combat this, I make a list of what I plan to wear each day of my trip, plus an extra outfit or two just in case something I was planning to wear more than once gets dirty, damaged, etc. And then I pack only what is on the list. I don't mind extra space in my suitcase because my fiance and I are big-time souvenir nerds, so we usually need the extra space on the return trip.

YES!! they make things so much easier. I used a very small carry-on for 9 days to Europe. I prefer the clear ones for clothes. You can see what you are looking for so much easier, so you can find what you are looking for without unpacking everything, and without making a mess in the suitcase, or even without unpacking. You can just stick the entire cute in the dresser if you have one.

I use the small ones for my electronics in my large carry-on purse, so I can find them easy without searching.

Also, rolling things carefully ensures much less wrinkling!!!
