Overwhelmed

Daniella, on January 7, 2022 at 7:38 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 9
I am having a horrible time dress shopping because I am so indecisive. I’m honestly thinking of paying a bunch to get a custom gown because I can’t just say yes to my favorites for little reasons. I’ve gone to so many bridal shops in really struggling. I just want to look beautiful and sexy for my husband to be :/. This is my top dress but I dislike how the tulle isn’t cohesive and is a bit much. I also worry how it’ll photograph. Overwhelmed 1

You look beautiful in that dress! But, if you're not feeling it, then you're not! Don't force yourself to try and love it if you don't!

My suggestion would be to talk to the alterations people at the store to see whether it would be possible to add more tulle to give it a more cohesive look, if you otherwise love this dress. Sometimes you just need a few tweaks to make something perfect.

If your only issue is the tulle section, check with a seamstress. The tulle will look better after alterations because it will be the right length in front/won’t bunch and crumple in the front (which is why I think it’s photographing a little awkwardly. It should also be easy to remove some volume from the tulle section by removing layers of tulle.

I think once it’s altered, that could be a showstopping dress.

Anomalie bridal does custom dresses on really reasonable budgets- about $1,800-$2,500, depending on what you want. Could be worth checking out!

You look gorgeous in this dress, it’s so flattering on you! I agree with the other ladies - alterations should fix the issue with the tulle

The look on your face (as much as we can see) pretty much says it all on this dress. Keep looking. Good luck!!

I think that the ideal option is to choose the most suitable dress, and then alter the details that you do not like. But the dress in the photo looks great and suits you very well

I agree with Samantha. Although based on your post I think you are getting close. You are realizing what you do want and you just haven't found it yet! Sounds to me as that's the shape, neckline, possible lace details but it's the train you struggle with and it might be beneficial just to know how much it would be to switch it to a material you like better. Would you prefer the train to be the same material as the rest of the dress? You also mentioned you're concerned with how it photographs. It looks really nice so I can only guess from the other end of a computer, online, you are worried about it being see-through? It's not but maybe that's a worry. Perhaps a different lace would resolve that.

You look gorgeous in your gown, but I am wondering what the "little reasons" are.

I think those little reasons are really the main reasons, and you might be a bit anxious in articulating why.

Don't feel like you are being "picky" or "too much".

If you feel comfortable articulating why, we would be curious to know. If you aren't comfortable, maybe talk to someone you really, really trust. There is also nothing wrong with premarital counseling or therapy.

I know these are unconventional tips but, consider these too:

-Take a "breather" from wedding shopping and revisit the photographs with a friend. You might feel less overwhelmed, and ready to see things with a more analytical eye than in the emotional state of dress shopping.

-Buy a bouquet of artificial flowers and consider getting your hair done in a flattering do but not full makeup) you want on your day. Seeing yourself more as a bride might help you make a decision.

-Ask to take a picture of your dress in natural light, rather than the light of the store.
