Overwhelmed

Jr, on October 18, 2019 at 10:51 PM Posted in Planning 0 8
I have been engaged for months now and I cant decide what to do. I live in Beaumont TX... everything here is country! Im not really a rustic type person. But I dont have the budget for a big fancy wedding. I feel like my taste is just too expensive and I dont want my wedding to look ghetto. I dont know what to do. Ive thought about having a destination wedding but I want my friends there, and I dont know if they could make it. I just want nice pictures, my mom can do the flowers, I just dont know what to do Smiley sad

What about a small guest list with a private room dinner reception, or a fancy brunch? That way you can choose an elegant wedding venue that shouldn’t cost as much. I totally understand wanting a beautiful wedding!

Not sure what’s located near there, but could you do a mini destination wedding at a golf resort or ski resort? Would give you a bit fancier option without the huge distance.

A lot of restaurants have private rooms and will work with you on a limited menu that fits your budget if you have a certain number of guests so maybe try that direction.

How funny - my dream wedding venue was actually a barn, but all of the nice ones here are crazy expensive and look like logistical nightmares.

Not sure what your exact budget is, but you could look into renting out smaller rooms at a winery or country club as well (though you might have better luck there if you do a Friday or Sunday).

The suggestions from PPs are great too!

I can understand being overwhelmed. I was in that boat (still am a little lol). Look at non-traditional dates for savings or even times if your FH is in agreement. Our wedding is on a Sunday evening which was half the cost of Saturday at most venues. Also ask other vendors for deals if you decide to do your wedding on any day except Saturday. Try not to tell them that you are having a wedding anyway because that word means higher prices in a lot of cases. The internet will be your best friend. It look us about 4-5 months to find something we really like that we were comfortable with. Spent a lot of time googling. Often times, caterers will list venues & you can find some help there (without using the caterer). For low cost things, Thumbtack has been my best friend! At the end of the day, your wedding will be yours & gorgeous. The people you invite should be happy they get to celebrate your union for whatever you choose! We are making cassette tape themed centerpieces for our music themed wedding which I know isn’t traditionally “elegant” but it’s reflects who we are as a couple so I could care less lol.

    Congrats & good luck!

As an events coordinator I can promise you that any space can be done up to fit your style. I love a luxurious style- so I am incorporating vintage gold candle holders and green velvet cloth into my decor. The lighting will have the biggest effect. Our reception ( we are doing a private ceremony) starts at 7:30, so it will already be dark, the room will be candlit with black linens. Gold will help to reflect the light.

You Can make a rustic setting feel not so rustic with the right set up. Do some Pinterest’s searches for ideas!

Jesica you can make it look elegant without breaking the bank. Go on Pinterest and get your ideas and then start looking for vendors that can help you on a budget. I have been doing that for months and it’s paid off. You can also go to Lake Charles and look.

Try to find a hotel or bed and breakfast that may host weddings and have a different vibe to them. Usually a hotel will be financially a good deal and they may shy away from the farmhouse feel as well. Try googling all hotel venues in your area and browse them for their decor and inquire pricing to filter for your budget
