Overwhelmed by Makeup

Victoria, on April 7, 2021 at 4:32 AM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 9
So is it just me or is anyone else overwhelmed by the thought of doing their own make up? I’m pretty much a tomboy and don’t wear make up very often. Outside of YouTube, anyone have any tips? A girl is freaking out and I only have 22 days til the wedding

Practice practice practice. Everyday until then I would dedicate a small portion of your day to perfecting the look you want to achieve.

Just a few things to consider... Given that you have such a short time to learn a skill that takes much longer to master. And also given that you’re currently “freaking out” and “overwhelmed” (which will only magnify on the wedding day), hiring a professional makeup artist is the best tip. This is your wedding, so it’s not a time for practicing and hoping that you’ll get it right. You’ll be interacting with guests all evening, so you want your makeup to look flawless. Additionally the money you’ll now need to spend on all new quality HD makeup and other pro-level products (that you’ll never use again) isn’t worth it. And image if your morning falls behind (as it usually does) and you’re rushed to do your own makeup. Will you feel skilled enough for that level of additional stress after only 3 weeks of YouTube tutorials?

Wedding day can already be stressful. But with hiring a professional makeup artist, you just have to sit in the chair and relax. Imagine having that peace of mind right now and not feeling overwhelmed like you currently are. That alone is worth every penny! Best wishes!

I completely agree with this! I am all for Team do-your-own-wedding-makeup... but only if you are skilled at doing it yourself. If you are a person that never wears make up, and does not know how to properly apply it, I wouldn’t use my wedding as a starting point. This day is going to be heavily photographed, and poorly applied make up is going to make a HUGE difference in your photos. Also, when make up is going to be heavily photographed it is applied differently than it is for every day wear. I would highly suggest calling around today to see if you can find a make up artist for your big day. It is going to save you so much time and stress.

I never wear makeup and don't really know how to. That's why I hired a makeup artist. I agree with the above posters that is really the best tip.

I would suggest hiring someone, especially if you're not used to doing makeup yourself

That’s precisely why I hired someone to do my make up. I just went to a local salon and used their girl. I even did a pre-trial to make sure I was comfortable and to better understand what I wanted. I considered doing my own , but as someone who rarely wears make up, I barely own any (I have eye make up but don’t know a darn thing about foundation) so I figured it wasn’t worth it for me to shell out for a bunch of products I’d probably never use again, and that quickly got me comfortable with paying for that day of pampering

As easy as it is for me to just say, ‘go for it and practice’ i’ve also been doing make up for years and have an extensive collection! The amount of money that you may need to spend on decent make up may come to the amount that it would cost for you to hire a make up artist. If you’re set on doing your own make up then that’s awesome too, and I would definitely suggest you tubing the heck out of videos! My favorite make up artist on YouTube is Hindash! Try to practice basic layering techniques!

I don’t usually wear makeup and when I do its mascara. So I am just sticking with what I know and what I am comfortable in. Just mascara.
