Overwhelmed by invitations!

Lily, on November 15, 2008 at 7:41 PM Posted in Planning 0 10

So I'm having trouble narrowing down where to look for the sort of wedding invitations that I want, I'm working with a very small budget but I'd really like to find something perfect for our event and style. I like less traditional and contemporary designs and I've seen several in wedding magazines but now that I'm doing online research it seems like I have to dig through hundreds of samples before I find anything that's even close to being me, and that's without considering price. Does anybody know of self-design software or alternative printing methods that could allow my fiance and I to design our own invites (he's a great artist), and self-printing methods to cut down on costs?

Thanks for your help, any advice would probably give me a boost.

You can find self design kits in any Staples, Office Depot, even Best Buy.... but if you have Windows you should have tons of projects in your own software that you can use. I like using Print Shop for these kind of things. They sell that anywhere, maybe even Walmart or Target.

Hope that helps! BTW my wedding was on the 20th too, hooray!

I have been using Kinkos or Vistaprint for printing of the cards and invitations I create. If you would like something truly original, why not use a customized poem from New World Greeting Cards for your invitations? You tell me the details of what you would like to say and then I weave it into a poem. You can check out my website to see what I have created. Since you want to design your own, you would only pay $20 for the customized poem. I also have wedding pkgs available for save the date, invitations, a wedding keepsake poem and those all important thank you cards. Let me know if I can be of assistance and congratulations to you!

How many do you need? If 100 or less we custom make invitations for our clients. All I would need to get started is the colors you will be using, some of your interests, something that you would really like to see that would make them personal and you. We then put together three choices and you can pick from one of them or modify if need be.

    Hello Lily,

I was very delighted to read your post since most brides do not put this much effort in selecting an invitation. An invitation gives your guest an impression of what to expect on your wedding day. Depending on the type of invitation you desire DIY are fine but they can also be a lot of work. You want an invitation that is very nice, great quality, original and most of all inexpensive. We are offering all invitations for $0.90 each (price includes Invitations, RSVP cards, Envelopes (inner and outer) and printing.

    Good Luck!

    Annette

Since I am an invitation designer, I know how fun & satisfying it can be to design your own invites. If your H2B is artistic, & you have the time, go for it! You might want to check out this website for DYI software & advice: http://www.lcipaper.com They also sell cardstock & other paraphernalia for your DIY invites, although they can be a bit pricey. Try Anchor Paper at http://www.anchorpaper.com/retail/index.htm for less expensive stuff. Have fun!

There are lots of great programs and papers and even some quality clip art that you can use to make your own invitations. Visit an office supply store. A custom postage stamp can be an inexpensive way to add a classically elegant touch. Here is a direct link one site that has several hundred designs: http://www.zazzle.com/pjwuebker/gifts?cg=196499797877974123
