Overweight Brides

Rebecca, on April 12, 2018 at 7:03 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 13

I'm overweight and am so nervous about walking down the aisle. I love my dress and I think I look great in it but the insecurities are sinking in. Any one else had this issue and any tips on feeling more confident?

I'm 5'2 and just had twin girls. I'm 180lbs, my dress size is 16, and I wish I was back to my 130 lbs before our 2 year old son but I'm also just so excited I don't mind horribly walking down the aisle.one thing I did is get a dress with lace sleeves to hide the arm fat I hate and I've been eating good and working out to see if I can slim anymore.i do feel what your feeling.

I'm pretty sure everyone has these insecurities, overweight or not. I'm plus size and losing weight...i probably won't be at the weight I wanted to be in 2 months, but I will be much closer...and I am so excited to be marrying my Lovey and can't wait to celebrate with family and friends that it is overwhelming all of my other feelings at this moment.
The prettiest bride is a happy one - no matter the size your happiness will make you glow Smiley smile
I worry about certain photos, so I have made sure to be very clear with my photographer what angles I prefer and to tell them about my specific insecurities to avoid any photo that I might just absolutely hate...perhaps having the same sort of discussion will help you too?

Oh yep, Im plus sized. I didn't look in the mirror after my mom helped adjust the sleeves of my dress on my wedding day. I avoided mirrors at all costs. I knew that would make me feel terrible if I did. Sorry, I don't have helpful advice-that was one thing my therapist couldn't get through to me on. But, I will say I did enjoy my wedding day.

I forget where I heard this but that everyone who is coming to your wedding already knows how you look. If you lose weight, great, but if not, don't beat yourself up over it. These people love you and most-likely don't care how much you weight.

Your fiance loves you as you are. Smile and be happy- that's what makes you beautiful.

And for the record, I'm a size 24.

Ohhhh my gosh it is a challenge for sure. I’m having a hard enough time staying awake during the day, let alone trying to put coherent thoughts together to plan! Lol. Best of luck to ya,
    mama!

I decided awhile ago to love myself as is...which is easier said than done. I’m who my FH loves and he says I’m more beautiful now than when we met. (I’ve always been plus sizedbut gained a little weight after moving in).

I moved in with my FH, gained weight, and went up 6 sizes. I have huge insecurities but the thing I keep in mind is my FH proposed to me after this weight gain. He loves me no matter what size I am and thinks I'm the most beautiful person. Focus on that on your big day. You don't need to change, you're perfect in his eyes and he's the only one that matters. Plus the people who are coming to your wedding love you.
I started working out a lot and losing weight. Working out makes me love my body because I know that I'm molding it in the way I want. It makes me feel in control of my body and proud of the way I look, no matter what size or weight I am. This body can run 13 miles even if I'm overweight by most standards, it rocks.
Anyway, know you're perfect in your husbands eyes and find something about your body that makes you proud. That's my advise. Hope it helps!

I am a size 20/22 and it just is what it is right now. I am not thrilled with it, but it’s not going to change in two months in a healthy way. Every bride is beautiful and nobody is sitting in the chairs thinking about how you should have lost weight. Everyone is there to share your joy and love!
