Overlays on all tables

Bride2Be, on December 29, 2017 at 8:59 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 12
Our wedding colors are light purple and light grey but im worried about having too much purple everywhere. We're ordering overlays for the reception tables but I'm curious if others have used overlays on all the tables or only every other table. We're having round tables with 8 at each, plus 2 long tables for the head table. What have you done in the past or have seen? Our centerpieces will be a mixture of tall and short with spring colors and purples, plus silver chargers and purple napkins. This is a link to the overlays we're purchasing.

I think just one color throughout. So overlays for all tables, unless you go with a plain color such as white or ivory and accent with floral color

If you are already varying the centerpieces on the tables, I wouldn't vary the overlays as well by putting on every other table. It just seems like too much would be going on to me. It is a pretty subtle purple so I would just go for it on all of them. Keep in mind, once you have everything on the tables (chargers, centerpieces, tableware) it is not going to show as much.

I agree with @An, if you are varying the centerpieces you should probably keep the overlays all one color for cohesiveness. It is such a pretty soft color that I think it will look lovely!

I agree with PP. The lavender is soft enough that it shouldn't be overwhelming. Especially with having various centerpieces.

Thank you all for the advice! I didn't consider the variation of centerpieces when thinking about varying the overlays and agree it would be too much. This is helpful!

Those overlays are very pretty and a soft color, I don’t think it would be too much purple

I would use the same overlay for all the round tables but then use something different, perhaps darker for the head table, perhaps reverse the colors with a purple cloth and lavender napkins. Or do something dramatic like a sequin cloth.

We used overlays and used them on all the tables. The sweetheart table was small enough that it just needed one blue table cloth to cover it.

Keep purple overlays on all tables and only have the centerpieces vary. It will be beautiful!!
