Over capacity

Help!! Our venue originally told us we could fit 64 guests due to covid. Things changed and we were just told we have a max of 48, AFTER sending out the invites. We have just hit 48 guests and a few more have not responded. How do I approach those that I have to uninvite?

    Be honest and let them know that space has been downsized due to Covid restrictions and you will stream the ceremony. Also looking forward to meeting up when it is safe

    Be honest- people understand that things are always changing due to COVID. Fingers crossed that the remaining people decline! Lol!

    Oh my God! First off this sucks! Secondly, I feel like this is one of the major problems all around with venues! They are not communicating well at all with us! They should’ve told you this way ahead of time! I would cut out obviously the people that aren’t as close to you, and I’m sure they will understand. I would just definitely tell them soon seeing as how they’ve already RSVPed and have possibly taken time off work etc. Good luck

    Your guests will understand. We are invited to a wedding of a life long friend in April and we let them know in the RSVP that we understand if, due to Covid measures, they need to make cuts and not to feel bad taking us off the list if need be. We just received notice today that because of restrictions still in place in CA, they are going to have family only Vermont (live streamed) and moving reception (for all originally invited) to their parent's ranch.

    That is a bummer, but everyone understands that this isn't your fault. Guidelines are so hyper-regional and changing all the time. Just communicate with them as soon as possible, briefly state the reason why and that you are sorry. But don't try to find the perfect, magic words to go into too much detail. Again, everyone living through the pandemic (so, everyone) knows that this is just how things are for now.
