Oval engagement rings

susan, on February 18, 2021 at 1:37 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 12
Hello! We are looking at oval or round engagement rings. The stone we found is a 3.1 carat oval Dvs1. We are trying to figure out the setting. I’m looking at halo or solitaire and considering gold setting. Would love to see oval or round diamond rings in a halo or solitaire setting. My finger is 4.5

I think an oval solitaire on gold is beautiful and classic. I would not opt for a halo, you’ll have plenty of coverage with your finger size and 3ct diamond.

If you're dropping around $50,000 for a stone, I would go with a solitaire setting to let that diamond shine on its own.

I’d skip on the halo. As PP have said, it’s just going to take away from a beautiful stone. Halls are designed to be an optical illusion to make a center stone seem larger.

I have a 1.5 ct oval for reference (also size 4.5) Oval engagement rings 1

Hope this helps! I attached a closeup of my ring and one of the engagement photos so you can see the size further away. My ring size is 5.5 and my center stone is 1ct oval with a halo. As others have said, depending on the look you want, a 3ct with a halo might be a little overkill, but if you're all about the bling then go for it Smiley smile

I have a 0.71 carat oval synthetic diamond with 2 side stones and stones on the band. I would go with a solitaire for that large of a diamond.

Mine isn't round or oval but it's 2 carats and my finger is also a 4.5. I love solitares and ovals with pear side stones with the bottom of the pear touching the oval.

My center stone is oval, but it's nothing like what you're imagining, lol. I agree with others that if you're going to have a stone that beautiful, anything other than a solitaire would almost be a shame! My only suggestion/pet peeve is not to have the band so thin that the weight of the stone makes it flop around/spin.

But here's my oval stone just for the laughs. It's over 100 years old.

I don’t have an oval, but my sister does. She’s got a 2ct solitaire on 4.25 ring and it covers a good amount on her finger. I think if it’s 3ct you should do a solitaire cause your finger is a lot smaller. But if you like the bling and it doesn’t encase your finger maybe a halo will work? I love more bling so I’d probably opt for side stones (not halo) if I had a 3ctOval engagement rings 7

Interesting point. I was thinking of a very thin band but when I tried it on it did flop around. I thought the sizing was off and never considered that the stone may just be too heavy

Now I’m starting to think a 2 carat might be better. Especially on my finger (4.25-4.5) the size of this looks perfect actually

My ring is fitted well on my finger and it does not flop around unless my hands are really cold. I don't have this issue.

Anthony Constantinou | Anthony Constantinou CEO CWM FX says I bought my first GIA certified solitaire ring from a wholesaler.I read somewhere that if the diamond is eye clean, it does not mean that it is pure.

Although all diamonds are shiny and beautiful, there are certain choosing criteria such as cut, color, clarity and carat that determine the actual worth of the diamond. I would recommend you to buy a GIA or EGL certified solitaire from any shop that gives you proof that the diamond you are purchasing is real.
