Outside ceremony...should you use an aisle runner?

Tiffany, on November 1, 2019 at 8:25 AM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 10
These are pictures of my venue! It's a beautiful wedding barn with an outside ceremony space. I'd never thought in a million years that I would get married outside! I only feel comfortable doing it because I know 100% that there is a plan B and that the barn is big enough to move it inside.

Anyways! It just occurred to me the other day that I might need to invest in an aisle runner for outside. My dress has a train to it and I'm worried it might get dirty dragging on the ground? I think it's mostly grass out there, and not super patchy but still.

I know lots of you all get married outside. What did you do? Just deal with the dirt since it's a one time dress? Or did you get an aisle runner?

The bottom of your dress is going to get dirty regardless. Since it’s on grass, I don’t see how an isle runner would lay flat after walking on it and would probably look rumpled. I would just leave it as is and add some colorful decorations like flowers or bows or something.

Your venue is beautiful! I think I would skip the aisle runner, that grass looks pretty plush in the photos so I wouldn't think your dress would get super dirty/muddy just by dragging overtop of it. We're planning on an outdoor ceremony also and we'll skip the aisle runner Smiley smile

I'm such a blonde. I didn't even think about that haha! Yeah I guess it wouldn't lay down super flat would it? Definitely don't want anyone tripping! Thanks for the advice

Your dress is going to get dirty on the train no matter what. Inside or outside. I think aisle runners look especially strange and unnecessary for an outdoor wedding. Mine was outside and I had a huge train, no aisle runner. Aren't you gonna take pictures outside? Your dress will get dirty then..

It’ll get slightly dirty (but only on the bottom where nobody will see it) but it would normally anyway. Love the natural venue the way it is. And you won’t need to worry about an aisle runner wrinkling up or flying away!

Wow! It's so pretty! We are getting married outside too. Except our ceremony site is on a concrete slab outside the reception space. I plan on doing something like this just to add a pop of color

I had one but didn't use it. I had an outdoor ceremony on grass. The bottom of my dress did get dirty aha.

Wow! I really like that! I might look into something like that! Maybe a light pink or ivory since I have a spring, pastel wedding! Thanks for sharing

I love it! You can find DIYs online... they say it takes lots of time! I'll be using blue and white!
