Outfit for the civil ceremony?

Christina, on February 28, 2019 at 10:00 AM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 5

Hi, everyone! Our civil ceremony is on Monday. Our church wedding (the "real" one, in our minds) is in June. I hadn't given much thought to what to wear to the civil ceremony! It's going to be a highly unromantic thing...first thing in the morning so that we can get to work on time, but still...we'll be married as far as the court is concerned!

Any ideas?

Wear something that makes you feel beautiful but practical. Obviously it’s a day you’ll want to remember but don’t overdo it.

Wear whatever you are comfortable in. A friend of mine did a quick courthouse wedding and she wore a white dress she'd found in one of the local stores. It wasn't anything fancy, just plain white though because she wanted to wear white on her wedding day. I've seen people wear jeans and tshirts though, red dresses, etc. Get a couple pictures at least for the memories.

We did this for legal reasons. I wore a short, white dress because it was a special day but I wanted to save the bridal feeling (and traditional bridal dress) for the wedding. I’d wear what you’re comfortable in! Maybe you could go for a white blouse if you’re going straight to work after? Or if you don’t want to wear white you can wear whatever you’d normally wear to work.

I wore an ivory lace knee-length dress with a pink blazer. I didn’t have flowers and my parents took some pictures before and after. Congratulations!

A knee or tea length white or ivory dress would be cute, especially if you're going to snap a just married picture in front of the courthouse. Or if you have nice, office type work clothes, you could just wear that and not have to change. Or wear a dress in a color you like. Depending on where you live, too. If it's still cold, I'd bundle up.
