Outfit direction for ring bearers and flower girls?

April, on January 14, 2020 at 11:02 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 8

Alright guys I need some help!

I will have 4 ring bearers and probably 2 flower girls. I asked the parents, parents said yes, and we kinda left it at that. Wedding is now 75ish days away and one of the moms (my future sister in law) asked me if I had decided what kids should wear yet.

How much instruction/direction should I give when it comes to their outfits? Did you tell the kids' parents exactly where to buy said outfits, or do you just provide a few examples and let them figure it out? I don't have kids of my own and want to be sensitive to the families budgets and make things relatively easy for them, but at the same time, I know zero about children's clothing.

Sorry if this is super obvious; I just have no idea where to start and don't want them to be saddled with something totally outrageous.

I asked my friend to have her son be dressed similarly to the groomsmen, so he wore gray pants and vest with a white shirt and a light pink bowtie (the guys wore straight ties and a jacket too, but bowties on little boys are just too adorable). For the 2 flower girls, my niece actually had a dress my uncle had bought her which was perfect and my MIL actually bought the one for my other flower girl on a crazy sale at Macy's for $25 because it fit with the general color scheme of the bridal party.

We had 2 flower girls, a ring bearer and an usher (15 years old) all of which are siblings. My mother-in-law made the flower girls dresses. I picked out the pattern and materials. I spoke with their mom about shoes and she asked if I had any ideas so I sent her a few pairs of shoes that I liked and she picked ones that were similar within her budget. The usher for the same tux as the groomsmen and my husband gave his free tux to the usher because he didn't want make his brother and sister-in-law spend too much money to dress their children for our wedding. The ring bearer worn a tux that was similar to the groomsmen, but cheaper which his parents paid for. I picked out the tuxes for both boys.

I didn’t have a bridal party for them to match and only have one ring bearer and flower girl so my situation was a bit different. For the flower girl I just told her mom a color and for the ring bearer I sent her a picture (navy slacks and a white button up). I provided the other accessories (bow tie, socks, suspenders) for the ring bearer since I knew specifically what I wanted.

My mom is making our 3 flower girl dresses and we are buying the 2 ring bearer suits from Amazon (per recommendation of their parents). They offered to buy but one of them is a bridesmaid, and 2 flower girl dads are groomsmen. We didn't want to put that financial burden on them. Both parents said they've bought the amazon suits before and they hold up really well plus you can buy them last minute with prime. No worries about it fitting!

Just give the parents a color and style that goes with your wedding colors. If you don't really have a preference of a dress/suit, then let the parents pick it out. Or, you could go on Amazon (or many other sites), and find a few examples that you like, to narrow it down for them. I have found Amazon to be one of the less expensive options for this.

I choose the dress as well as paid for it for our flower girl to wear. Had it shipped to her address and when her Mom asked her to try it on she actually thought it was HER wedding dress ❤️❤️❤️❤️. I will more than likely buy her shoes but closer to the wedding in Aug
