Outdoor wedding October 31

We're looking at a Halloween 2020 wedding in South Jersey. Has anyone had an October/November wedding outdoors with any issues? From what I recall the past couple Halloweens haven't been too cold and it hasn't rained, my family is concerned though.

I wouldn't plan an outdoor wedding in NJ for that time of year. It's usually too cold.

And it snowed Halloween weekend in 2011, exactly a year before Sandy hit. Of course, you shouldn't worry about a hurricane (or a fluke snow storm) when planning your wedding, but I just think it's not a good idea to plan for an outdoor wedding up north in late October.

I wouldn't plan an exclusively outdoor wedding in NJ at the end of October. There have been years where it's been freezing for the poor kids trick or treating! I remember as a child so many years having to bundle up and be so mad my costume was covered with a coat. Lol. I recall having snow in the middle of October, but also having 70 degree weather into December. It's just so unpredictable. I wouldn't worry about hurricanes though or superstorms (like Sandy) because they are so rare in that area.

If I were you, I'd plan on an outdoor ceremony since it's what you want, but make sure you have a strong backup plan for if it's too cold. I'd also recommend planning for an indoor reception. Once the sun goes down it'll likely be too cold to be outdoors.

My cousin just had her wedding in PA outside the week after Halloween. It snowed as we got ready and the temperature was 29. We were FREEZING. Her reception was inside but she refused to move the wedding ceremony indoors because she didn't want to ruin the wow factor for her guests as they walked inside....so we froze. I'd definitely have some kind of plan in case it's cold. Weather is unpredictable.

Congratulations! I was excited to see you’re having a Halloween wedding! My wedding had touches of Halloween in it (my favorite holiday!) and it was also in October. I would suggest having a backup plan. Ours was in doors with a 5pm ceremony, but it literally rained all day until about 4pm.
