Outdoor Wedding Dress

Jazz, on October 1, 2020 at 4:34 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 1 8
Hey

I am getting married at a ranch/farm and am worried about the bottom of my dress looking dreadful! I understand that part of the deal with being outdoors but I want to try to minimize the situation. Does anyone have any advice? Or materials that might be better than others?
Thanks.

Go for a tea length dress in any fabric instead of something that has a long train.

The tea length dress was going to be my suggestion. They’re so classy and perfect for an outdoor wedding.

I would live it up and wear the dress of your dreams...you only do this maybe once in your life and you wear the dress once.

I go married out on farmland in a dress with a fairly long train (my dress was crepe and lace). To be honest, the underside of my dress didn't look pretty at the end of the night. But you would be surprised what a good dry-cleaning can do!

The one thing that I'm glad about is that my dress wasn't tulle, I had a few burrs get stuck in my veil and they weren't fun to get out, so I don't want to imagine what a tulle skirt would have picked up. But regardless, I say just wear whatever dress you feel the most beautiful in!

I agree with Marisa, wear the dress of your dreams & live it up! This is the only time you will be wearing it, so who cares if the bottom gets a little gnarly? I plan to traipse through liquor, urine, (and God only knows what else!) in my dress on Bourbon Street! I figure, pictures will be done early in the day/evening so who cares, no one is going to be looking at the bottom of my dress.

You’re right on the tulle! I had a tulle skirt and while it didn’t look dirty, I ended up picking up many stick and dried seaweed (beach wedding!) with it 😱

Wear whatever you want! We I was worried about this because we ended up having a miniwedding and I'm planning to wear my dress again to the reception. I'm having it cleaned now so there won't be any "invisible stains" that show up later but my dress still looked almost perfect when I went to hang it up. Even though I sat on the ground in it (twice) the only evidence that I had worn it outside was that I found two small leaves stuck in the bottom of it.

I would probably recommended something that's not super shiny and silky, just because anything that does get on you will be super visible in pictures.
