I'm having an outdoor wedding in October and I'm planning on doing cupcakes from an awesome local bakery instead of a traditional wedding cake. I'd like to still do a traditional display of the cupcakes (like on a 7 tier cupcake stand), but I'm trying to figure out how to make this work logistically. Since the wedding and reception are all outdoors, I don't want the cupcakes to just be sitting out for a long period of time. I also don't want the caterer to have to set up the display in front of all the guests. So I'm trying to decide if it makes sense to just have the cupcakes on a few platters that the caterer can easily bring out and place on a table (guests will self-serve after the "cake cutting" -- really cupcake cutting) or if it makes sense to just have the caterer set the cupcakes up on the stand during dinner (while guests can see it). Any thoughts? We will probably have about 160 cupcakes to display.
