Outdoor Summer Celebration

Kerin, on July 8, 2020 at 11:08 AM Posted in Parties and Events 0 34

Good morning, everyone! Now that FH and I have a clear vision of what we're doing for our summer celebration (hopefully post-Covid) in August of 2021, I want to get a pretty dress to wear that isn't as "full" as my wedding dress Smiley shame This will be an outdoor pavilion event at a local park with a nice lake beside us. We're treating it more like a catered bbq kind of shindig with outdoor games and everyone hanging out...I almost envision it like a bridal shower vibe but without presents LOL I don't want anything too long that will drag in the grass, and I can bet I'll be wearing flat sandals with it because I'm a walking talking tripping hazard waiting to happen Smiley xd I've seen these 2 dresses and I'm trying to decide between them. My sister cast her vote already for the cap sleeve dress. The lace one I can have hemmed a little so it won't drag the ground and we can add cap sleeves or straps if I need to. I really like the cap sleeve one, but the beading makes me think it might be too formal for the vibe of this party.

What do you think? Keeping in mind August in Ohio near Lake Erie = Hot and Humid!

I love BOTH dresses, but thinking the 1st one may be better suited for outdoors. The second one is more formal / cocktail dress, where as the first one more outdoorsy summer feel.

    Great choices btw.....

I’m not a fan of cap sleeves. I think the hi-lo hem is perfect for the occasion. if you want cap sleeves or a straps you can add them. The first one screams outdoors, fun, relaxed and is very pretty. Good luck!

Thanks, Margaret Smiley shame I'm usually quite the tomboy - this is the most dressing up I've planned in a long time LOL

I much prefer the lace dress. It is pretty and I think it fits the vibe you are going for, but still gives you that bridal look. Personally, I am not a fan of the capped sleeve dress at all.

I love the first one because you can dress it up or down - I think I have that dress in black actually somewhere in my closet. LOL...

You could wear that dress with a cute pair of custom Chucks and it would make it adorable and festive.

Or a pair of high heels and now your summer chic

Both are beautiful, but I'm personally in love with the first one!

(PS I'm in Ohio near the lake too -- hot and humid is right!)

LOL very true! I already have custom Chucks, too, so maybe I'll go that route instead of sandals...but me in heels is a dangerous proposition always Smiley xd

1st dress! It's gorgeous. You could always have sleeves put on after/ wear a shawl if you want coverage.
