Hello brides and brides-to-be!

I am getting married on November 27th, 2020 in Estes Park, Colorado in the mountains/forest. For those not familiar with this area, there is a 95% chance that there will be snow on the ground during this time of year if not also snowing. I am a huge winter person, as if my fiance (he proposed at the top of the highest ski lift in North America in the middle of a blizzard), but people think I'll regret not wearing a shawl. My concern is that a shawl during the ceremony is going to cover my dress than I'm absolutely obsessed with. Our ceremony is only for 30 minutes max so I know I'll be fine, though I will likely get a little red from the cold. My plan right now is to wear a shawl walking down the aisle, taking it off during the ceremony, and then putting it back on when go to leave the alter. There are standing heaters around the guest seating areas so the heat from them will hopefully emanate enough to reach us at the alter at least a little bit.

I just want opinions whether in my favor or not. I've taken care of my guests and bridesmaids to ensure they will be warm (standing heaters, hot apple cider to sip on, and bridesmaids will keep their shawls on throughout the whole ceremony). My parents think it's time for me to consider how comfortable I'll be now. Haha

Thanks in advance!

P.S. I'd love to see everyone else's dresses and/or outdoor ceremony photos!

I think you're 100% right. I'll probably take it off for my walk down the aisle and have it nearby in case I need it. Thank you! I'll definitely show it off as much as possible! Smiley heart

Such a stunning dress. If you can stand it go without the shawl. I'm always a cold person but that dress needs to be shown off. Maybe have a backup plan in case it gets REALLY cold, snow blowing all around, etc.

The idea for ditching the shawl before the start of ceremony would be good if you would not like how the pics would turn out. If not a shawl, have you thought about faux fur shawl or coat? I would say to put the heaters closer to the front so you can have heat and I would wear light colored fleece lined leggings under the dress as well.

Sorry for the confusion. By shawl I meant a faux fur shawl. I think I'm going to ditch it and wear some white long johns underneath dress and move some heaters a little closer but still keep them far enough that they aren't in our photos.

Your dress is gorgeous!! I’m getting married in November in PA and we really want an outdoor ceremony as well. I’ve looked into some different color fur shawls that look really good in pictures especially with bridesmaids in a slightly different color. I didnt even think about heaters that’s a great idea!! Whatever you feel comfortable in on that day, you’ll look great no matter what.
