Outdoor ceremony, dress, grass stains?

Erin, on July 22, 2017 at 10:12 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 6

Hi,

My ceremony is going to be outdoors, weather permitting. The coordinator told me that most people do not use an aisle runner because they tend to bunch and people can trip, which makes sense to me. I'm just wondering what will happen to my train as I'm walking down the aisle and standing on the grass? Has anyone else dealt with this?

    Hey!

I got married last month, and had an outdoor ceremony. I had an isle runner but we were unable to even walk on it because it sticks to your shoes on the grass and everyone was tripping so we all walked to the side of it. My dress had a train and I did not get major grass stains, it is obviously dirty on the bottom but that is to be expected and I knew I would need it cleaned and preserved anyway! Hope this helps, and congratulations! Smiley smile

My wedding was outside. My dress was linen and did really well. It got a mud stain during the first look because the photographer asked me to spin and I stepped on it. My coordinator got it out with a baby wipe. I also ended up with a grass stain on my butt because DH picked me up and tried to spin and I fell Smiley surprise

But I really can't imagine getting grass stains just from walking down the aisle.

My wedding was outdoors & honestly, the train & hemline of my dress were so dirty by the time it was over. But I took it to a cleaner that specialized in wedding dresses a few days afterward & it's good as new.

It seems unlikely you would get grass stains just by walking along. And if you do ..... does it really matter? Your photog can arrange the dress so that it doesn't show in pictures after the ceremony, and depending on how your bustle is made it might hide the dirt during the reception.

But really, if you don't plan to ever wear it again, does it matter? I don't plan to pay a lot of money for my dress to be "like new" after the ceremony unless I decide to sell it. And at my wedding I hope to care much more about enjoying the day than about keeping my dress in pristine condition.

Grass stains are most likely not going to happen when the fabric is lightly brushing on the surface of the grass as you walk or stand. My wedding was outside, and the bottom picked up dirt, leaves, and other outdoor elements. Also, rips and tares everywhere in the dress happened from me or someone else stepping on it throughout the night, and it was pretty unpreventable.

I'm having an outside wedding as well. I'm sure my dress will be a bit messy at the end of the night. Bound to happen having an outside wedding. We aren't doing an aisle runner because of the tripping stories I've heard.
