Out of Town Welcome Baskets

Seshanna, on August 9, 2017 at 7:59 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 13

Being that all of my friends and family live out of state, my MoH made a suggestion of a welcome bag or basket for their arrival. The grand majority of my invited list won't come, so the few that do I want to do something nice for after they land but before we start the party. What would you want in a welcome bag if you had to fly there and back and couldn't take much on the plane with you?

We're doing simple gift bags (amazon) for people staying at the hotel. Bottled water, a few snacks and Advil! Most people are traveling out of state, so we'll also have a print out with things to do in the area.

I did basic things and local things. For basic - advil, water, tissues, tic tacs, kind bars. Local - bag of crab potato chips, berger cookies, koozie with maryland flag and crab on it, map of the area. Oh I also included an uber code on the insert I put in each bag.

How do you know that the "grand majority" won't come? Have you already sent out invites and gotten back RSVPs? If not, you may want to wait on those until you actually know who's coming.

We did welcome bags and the hotel passed them out as guests checked in. We included a couple bottles of water, sweet and savory snacks (like little packs of cookies, individually wrapped trail mix, and snack size bags of popcorn and crackers), and little packs of Tylenol. I had a couple that were different to accommodate two gluten free guests that were staying at the hotel, and I also had different bags for children. The kids bags had the water and snacks, but instead of Tylenol, they got little packets of Wikki Stix and a coloring book packet that included a little coloring book, crayons, and stickers.

Those are great suggestions! I'm writing all these down :3 And @LibbyLane, I don't know for sure, but I'm already being told by a lot of my family that they won't be able to make it. I'll send them StDs and invites anyway, but if they're already saying they're not coming, then I won't hold my breath :p

It's a Halloween wedding??? Awesome. I agree on waiting until you have a more definitive guest list. But do a cutesy Halloween wedding themed bag. Adding something local for a little flair is always nice. I'll come back just to creep your BAM!!!

8D Spoopy Halloween basket is a great idea!! The town's major thing is Ren Faire, and for my bridesmaids that can stay, I'm getting them tickets to the faire. So maybe for my other oot guests toss in something local that reflects the faire Smiley laugh
