Out of town guests timeline?

Miss S., on November 24, 2013 at 9:25 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 5

I am having a lot of out of state guests coming to the wedding. I want to include a time-line or some suggestions for the weekend, while in Michigan.

So far I thought about having a BBQ at our house the day before the wedding for those that are coming in Friday at a decent time. Saturday is the wedding. I assume that most people will travel back on Sunday but in case someone still stays I want to give them some suggestions, and to be honest if I am not too exhausted I would still like to see some people. I thought about getting some cheap tickets to a Tigers game for those that would still stay....

I will definitely give them some ideas for the area, in case they want to explore by themselves.

What are you guys offering for your out-of town guests? How much time will you be spending with them?

I think what you're offering is really nice.

We don't have many out of town guests and the ones we do are originally from the area so they have lots of family/friends here to visit, so we aren't planning anything special. We did specifically choose a hotel that included breakfast, so we could hang out with everyone the morning after the wedding!

We have about half our guests coming from out of town (including most of the bridal party- us too!). We are not doing anything in particular on the Friday since that will be the rehearsal dinner and venue set up. FH and I have not discussed whether the OOT guests will be invited to the rehearsal dinner yet.

We are having an Open House at my parents' house the day after for the OOT guests. They can stop by, visit with us/our families and grab a bite to eat before hitting the road/exploring. Since we know many guests have not been to the town before and are thinking of making it a longer weekend, we have also included (on our wedding website) an assortment of things to do in the area, categorized and with website links.

Since we're getting married in the Washington DC area, there are already a TON of things for our OOT guests to do. I'm doing welcome bags, so I will put some suggestions in there. We will also be having brunch the day after...
